Francisco Pradilla
Francisco Pradilla Ortiz (24 July 1848 – 1 November 1921) was a prolific Spanish painter famous for creating historical scenes. Biography He was born in Villanueva de Gállego, in Zaragoza Province and began his studies in Zaragoza. He then transferred to the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and, later, the "Academia de Acuarelistas" (Academy of Watercolorists) in Madrid. In 1873, he became one of the first students chosen to study at the new . From there he had opportunities to travel to France and Venice and studied the old masters. In 1878 he submitted his painting '' Doña Joanna the Mad'' or (Juana la Loca) to the National Exhibition of Fine Arts and was awarded the Medal of Honor. ''Doña Juana la Loca'' () is an 1877 oil on canvas painting by the Spanish painter Francisco Pradilla. It is now in the Museo del Prado in Madrid, Spain. The painting was created and sent from Rome, and it was so successful that many copies of the original were eventually made. The painting is an example of the Spanish historical painting genre. It obtained the medal of honor in the National Exposition of Fine Arts (Spanish: Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes) of 1878, as well as having success in the Universal Expositions of Paris in 1878, as well as that of Berlin. The Nasrid dynasty ( ar, بنو نصر ''banū Naṣr'' or ''banū al-Aḥmar''; Spanish: ''Nazarí'') was the last Muslim dynasty in the Iberian Peninsula, ruling the Emirate of Granada from 1230 until 1492. Abu Abdallah Muhammad XII ( ar, أبو عبد الله محمد الثاني عشر, Abū ʿAbdi-llāh Muḥammad ath-thānī ʿashar) (c. 1460–1533), known in Europe as Boabdil (a Spanish rendering of the name ''Abu Abdallah''), was the 22nd and last Nasrid ruler of the Emirate of Granada in Iberia.
