Francisco Belaúnde
Francisco Belaúnde Terry (3 October 1923 – 25 August 2020) was a Peruvian politician who served as a member of Congress, in which he served as President of the Chamber of Deputies between 1980 and 1981. His brother Fernando Belaúnde had been twice President. He belongs to the Popular Action party. He died on 25 August 2020 at the age of 96. Biography He was born in Lima in 1923 in a family closely linked to politics. He was the son of Rafael Belaunde Diez Canseco and Lucila Terry García. His father was Minister of Government and President of the Council of Ministers in the government of José Luis Bustamante y Rivero (1945–46); his grandfather Mariano A. Congress Of The Republic Of Peru
The Congress of the Republic of Peru ( es, Congreso de la República) is the unicameral body that assumes legislative power in Peru. Congress' composition is established by Chapter I of Title IV of the Constitution of Peru. Congress is composed of representatives who sit in congressional districts allocated to each region, as well as two special districts, Lima Province and Peruvian citizens living abroad, on a basis of population as measured by the Peruvian Census in multi-member districts. The number of voting representatives is fixed by the Constitution at 130. Pursuant to the 2017 Census, the largest delegation is that of Lima Province, with 36 representatives. The Popular Action ( es, Acción Popular, AP) is a liberal and reformist political party in Peru, founded by former Peruvian president Fernando Belaúnde Terry. History Early history Fernando Belaúnde founded Popular Action (''Acción Popular'') in 1956 as a reformist alternative to the status quo conservative forces and the populist American Popular Revolutionary Alliance party. Although Belaúnde's message was not all that different from APRA's, his tactics were more inclusive and less confrontational. José Luis Bustamante Y Rivero
José Luis Bustamante y Rivero (January 15, 1894 – January 11, 1989) was a lawyer, writer, politician, and diplomat who served as the 44th President of Peru from 1945 to 1948 and President of the International Court of Justice in The Hague from 1967 to 1970. Early years José Bustamante was born in Arequipa. His parents were Manuel Bustamante y Barreda, a lawyer and district attorney in Arequipa, and Victoria de Rivero y Romero. José married María Jesús Rivera in 1923. Eduardo López De Romaña
Eduardo López de Romaña y Alvizuri (19 March 1847 – 26 May 1912) served as the 32nd President of Peru from September 1899 to September 1903. A member of the landowning elite, he was the first engineer to become President of the Republic, and one of several Presidents from the era of the so-called Aristocratic Republic. Early years López de Romaña was born in Arequipa, the son of Juan Manuel López de Romaña y Fernández Pascua and María Josefa Alvizuri y Bustamante. Víctor Andrés Belaúnde Diez Canseco (15 December 1883 – 14 December 1966) was a Peruvian diplomat, politician, philosopher and scholar. He chaired the 14th Session and the 4th Emergency Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly between 1959 and 1960 and was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru in 1958. A distinguished scholar, Belaúnde was an important catholic thinker and a professor at the San Marcos University and then at the Pontifical Catholic University, where he was Emeritus Rector. Peruvian Politicians
Peruvians ( es, peruanos) are the citizens of Peru. There were Andean and coastal ancient civilizations like Caral, which inhabited what is now Peruvian territory for several millennia before the Spanish conquest in the 16th century; Peruvian population decreased from an estimated 5–9 million in the 1520s to around 600,000 in 1620 mainly because of infectious diseases carried by the Spanish. Spaniards and Africans arrived in large numbers in 1532 under colonial rule, mixing widely with each other and with Native Peruvians. During the Republic, there has been a gradual immigration of European people (especially from Spain and Italy, and in a less extent from Germany, France, Croatia, and the British Isles). Chinese and Japanese arrived in large numbers at the end of the 19th century. With 31.2 million inhabitants according to the 2017 Census, Peru is the fifth most populous country in South America.
