Francis Zamora
Francisco Javier "Francis" Manlapit Zamora (born December 5, 1977) is a Filipino politician, businessman, and former basketball player serving as the mayor of San Juan, Metro Manila since 2019. He previously was San Juan's vice mayor from 2010 to 2016, and a council member from 2007 to 2010. Career Sports Zamora, 6'5 (playing as center, initially played for La Salle Green Hills) was the team captain of the De La Salle Green Archers who won two championships of UAAP Men's Basketball in 1998 and 1999 under then-head coach Franz Pumaren. He graduated with an AB in psychology in 1999. After his college career he played in major leagues, including the Philippine Basketball League for the teams Welcoat Paintmasters (he won two championships with them, in 1999 and 2000) and Blu Detergent. Zamora was the #35 draft pick in the 2001 PBA draft for the Sta. Lucia Realtors. However, he never saw action for Asia's pioneer play-for-pay league. The UNTV Cup Season 2 was the 2014 season of the public service-based basketball league, the UNTV Cup. It was opened on February 11, 2014, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City. Its final games were held on July 8, 2014, at the same venue. UNTV Cup season two started its ceremonial toss on February 11, 2014, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City. Ten teams participated this season; three more teams compared to the inaugural season. Atoy Co and Ed Cordero serve as commissioner and deputy commissioner respectively during the course of UNTV Cup season two. The game ended successfully on July 8, 2014, on the same venue. The UNTV Cup Season 1 was the 2013 season of the public service-based basketball league, the UNTV Cup based in the Philippines. It was opened on July 29, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City. Its final games were held on November 5, 2013 at the same venue. UNTV Cup started its first season with a ceremonial toss on July 29, 2013 and it was expected to end in January 2014 but it ended early on November 5 of the same year. UNTV Cup
The UNTV Cup is a men's charity basketball league organized in the Philippines. Twelve basketball teams organized by government agencies and guested by celebrities and ex-pro and amateur players compete in the league. The league's first game started on July 29, 2013 coinciding the 9th Anniversary Celebration of UNTV. As an amateur league, UNTV Cup is using the FIBA rules as its House Rules which is being used in world basketball and Olympics according to Mr. Raffy Britanico, officiating head of ''Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP)'', a basketball association in the Philippines. The Philippine Basketball League (PBL) was a commercial semi-professional basketball league in the Philippines. The league was composed of several commercial teams with several collegiate and provincial stars. History The PBL was formed on May 6, 1983, a brainchild of San Miguel Corporation chairman Danding Cojuangco, under its original name the Philippine Amateur Basketball League (PABL). It was the successor of the defunct Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA), which folded during the early-1980s. Franz Pumaren
Franz Santos Pumaren (born December 5, 1963) is a Filipino former professional basketball player and coach. He played college ball for De La Salle University before playing professional basketball in the Philippine Basketball Association. He is the former coach of the Adamson Falcons in the UAAP. He is also the incumbent congressman from Quezon City's 3rd district. Basketball career Pumaren played most of his professional career for the San Miguel Beermen where he won 9 championships with the team which also included the 1989 Grand Slam. He also played for the Mobiline Cellulars.
