Francis Amanfoh
Gen. Francis Adu Amanfoh is a Ghanaian army personnel and diplomat. He has the rank of major general in the Ghana Army. He was appointed by John Agyekum Kufour as Ghana's ambassador to Liberia from February 2006 until March 2009. Education and working life Francis Adu Amanfoh had his secondary school education at Prempeh College where he obtained his GCE Advanced level certificate. In May 2005 he was appointed Head of Defence Intelligence in the Ghana Armed Forces. and was posted as Ambassador to Liberia on 27 January 2006. In 2008 he sued the '' Ghana Palaver'', seeking two billion cedis for defamation after the paper had printed four stories which attempted to create the impression that he was a liar. The cedi ( ) (currency sign: GH₵; currency code: GHS) is the unit of currency of Ghana. It is the fourth historical and only current legal tender in the Republic of Ghana. One cedi is divided into one hundred pesewas (Gp). After independence Ghana separated itself from the British West African pound, which was the currency of the British colonies in the region. The new republic's first independent currency was the Ghanaian pound (1958–1965). In 1965, Ghana decided to leave the British colonial monetary system and adopt the widely accepted decimal system. The African name Cedi (1965–1967) was introduced in place of the old British pound system. The Embassy of Ghana in Bamako is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Ghana to Mali. It also serves as the official residence of the Ghana ambassador to Mali. Ghana's diplomatic relations with Mali could be traced from the Ghana-Guinea-Mali Union. The union disbanded in May 1963 however Ghana and Mali continued to appoint ambassadors to represent their countries in the capital of their former ally. They were called; Resident Minister.
