Francia River
The Francia ( es, río Francia) is a 25 km long tributary of the Alagón, a right-hand tributary of the Tagus. Its source is at 1350 m in the Valle de Lera ( Sierra de Francia). It flows into the Alagón at a height of 420 m. Alagón (river)
The Alagón is a 205 km long river in Spain, right tributary to the Tagus, as well as this river's longest tributary. Its source is at 1060 m in the Sierra de Francia, near the village Frades de la Sierra, south of Salamanca. The Alagón flows southwest, through the towns San Esteban de la Sierra, Guijo de Granadilla and Coria. It finally joins the Tagus at Alcántara. There are three dams across its course: the "Gabriel y Galán", the largest one, generating 110 MW of electricity; the "El Pontón", at Guijo de Granadilla, generating 52 MW of electricity; and the "Montehermoso-Valdeobispo" dam. Tagus
The Tagus ( ; es, Tajo ; pt, Tejo ; see #Name, below) is the longest river in the Iberian Peninsula. The river rises in the Montes Universales near Teruel, in mid-eastern Spain, flows , generally west with two main south-westward sections, to empty into the Atlantic Ocean in Lisbon. Its Tagus Basin, drainage basin covers – exceeded in the peninsula only by the Douro. The river is highly used. Several dams and diversions supply drinking water to key population centres of central Spain and Portugal; dozens of hydroelectric stations create power. The Sierra de Francia is a mountain range located in Sierra de Francia Comarca at the southern end of Salamanca Province, Castile and León, Spain. It is located about 70 km from Salamanca city. The region is sparsely inhabited and its few towns have great cultural value. Salamanca () is a city in western Spain and is the capital of the Province of Salamanca in the autonomous community of Castile and León. The city lies on several rolling hills by the Tormes River. Las Batuecas-Sierra De Francia Natural Park
The Natural Park of Las Batuecas - Sierra de Francia is a protected natural area in the west of Spain and particularly in the south-west of the Salamanca region. In the autonomous community Castile and Leon, along the border with Extremadura. The natural park (Spain) was established on July 11, 2000. It includes 15 different municipalities: Monsagro, El Maíllo, Serradilla del Arroyo, La Alberca, El Cabaco, Nava de Francia, Mogarraz, Herguijuela de la Sierra, Monforte de la Sierra, Madroñal, Cepeda, Villanueva del Conde, Miranda del Castañar and Sotoserrano San Martin del Castañar was added on 18 December 2008. Protected areas or conservation areas are locations which receive protection because of their recognized natural, ecological or cultural values.
