France National Under-20 Rugby Union Team
The France under 20 rugby team are the newest representative rugby union team from France. They replace the two former age grade teams Under 19s and Under 21s. Their first tournament was the 2008 Six Nations U20 Championship, where they finished 3rd with three wins (over Scotland, Ireland and Italy) and two losses (to England and Wales). They also have participated in the inaugural IRB Junior World Championship and all subsequent competitions. They won the Six Nations Under 20s Championship in 2009, 2014, and 2018, when they also won World Rugby Under 20 Championship (2018, 2019). Émilien Gailleton (born 13 July 2003) is a French rugby union player, who currently plays as a Rugby union positions#Centre, centre for Section Paloise, Pau in the Top 14. Early life Born in Croydon, England to a French father and a British mother, Émilien Gailleton moved to Cahors, France at the age of three. He started rugby for his Cahors Rugby, hometown club in 2008, and then joined SU Agen Lot-et-Garonne, Agen as a junior in 2017. Club career Gailleton made his professional debut with Agen on 15 October 2021 in a loss at Rugby Club Vannes, Vannes, during the 2021–22 Rugby Pro D2 season, 2021–22 Pro D2 season. In December 2021, he signed with Section Paloise, Pau and joined the Top 14 club at the end of the 2021–22 season. World Rugby Under 20 Championship
The World Rugby Under 20 Championship (known as the IRB Junior World Championship until 2014) is an international rugby union competition. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, World Rugby, and is contested by 12 men's junior national teams with an under-20 age requirement. This event replaced the IRB's former age-grade world championships, the Under 19 and Under 21 World Championships. The inaugural tournament was held in June 2008, hosted by Wales and with 16 teams participating. Wales was announced as host for the inaugural tournament in November 2007. The number of participating nations was reduced to 12 before the 2010 tournament due to financial reasons. The U20 Championship is the upper level of the World Rugby tournament structure for under-20 national sides. Demba Bamba (born 17 March 1998) is a French rugby union player. His position is prop and he currently plays for Lyon in the Top 14. Early life and education Demba's parents originate from Mauritania and he grew up in the Saint-Denis area of Paris. He played various sports, including handball, when young. The 2012 IRB Junior World Championship was the fifth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams. This competition replaced the now defunct Under 19 and Under 21 world championships. The event was organised in South Africa between 4 and 22 June 2012 by rugby's governing body, the IRB. A total of 12 nations played in the tournament. New Zealand came into the tournament as defending champions. South Africa were crowned 2012 champions after defeating New Zealand 22 - 16 in the final on the 22 June at Newlands Stadium.
