Fractured Life
''Fractured Life'' is the debut album by English alternative rock band Air Traffic. It was released on 2 July 2007 on the Tiny Consumer label, an imprint of EMI. The album contains UK Top 40 hit "Charlotte" as well as other singles "Just Abuse Me", "Never Even Told Me Her Name", " Shooting Star" and, most recently, "No More Running Away". The album was released in America on 5 February 2008. In the first week of its release, ''Fractured Life'' attained a #42 on the UK Albums Chart. James Cannon, of Capital Radio, named the album "Album of the Week" for 2–9 July 2007. On 30 July 2007, the band re-released the album in a limited pressing 12 inch vinyl form. The album was nominated for the 2008 XFM New Music Award, where the band played a special one-off performance at the ceremony at London's KOKO. Air Traffic
Air Traffic are an English alternative rock band from Bournemouth signed to EMI Records. Formed in 2003, the band consists of Chris Wall (piano, lead vocals), David Ryan Jordan (Drums), Tom Pritchard (guitar) and Jim Maddock (bass guitar). The band's name originated from when they used to rehearse in an industrial unit next to Hurn Airport, where air traffic control signals could be picked up on their amplifiers. Their music features heavy use of piano, and they have been described by ''NME'' to be like " Supergrass covering Little Richard". The band have received success with the release of their single " Shooting Star", which debuted at No. 30 in the UK Singles Chart, and the release of their debut album, ''Fractured Life''. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Ultratop
Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Two parallel sets of charts are concurrently produced and published, one on behalf of Belgium's mainly Dutch-speaking Flanders region, and the other catering to the nation's mainly French-speaking region of Wallonia. TMF Awards
The TMF Awards were an annual television awards show broadcast live on TMF (The Music Factory). The first Dutch TMF Awards were held in 1995, as a brand extension to the recently launched local Dutch music channel TMF. The show was very small and held in the company cafeteria. However throughout the years the event gradually moved to bigger venues, and for some time now, it is now being held in Rotterdam Ahoy, a venue which can seat 10,000 people. In 2006, the show was held in the 'Heineken Music Hall' in Amsterdam. Since 1998 (with the arrival of the Belgian channel, broadcasting in Dutch, purely for the Flemish part of the country) a second TMF Awards show was launched. KOKO (venue)
KOKO (previously called The Music Machine and Camden Palace) is a concert venue and former theatre in Camden Town, London, England. The building was known as Camden Palace from 1982 until its 2004 purchase and extensive restoration, led by Oliver Bengough and Mint Entertainment. Since, the club has been known as KOKO and is one of the premier live music venues in London. On the evening of 6 January 2020, a large fire broke out in the building. History 1900–1945: Theatre and cinema The Camden Theatre opened on Boxing Day 1900. With a capacity of 2,434 it was one of the largest theatres in London outside the West End. A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. The groove usually starts near the periphery and ends near the center of the disc. At first, the discs were commonly made from shellac, with earlier records having a fine abrasive filler mixed in. Starting in the 1940s polyvinyl chloride became common, hence the name vinyl. The phonograph record was the primary medium used for music reproduction throughout the 20th century. ''Never Even Told Me Her Name'' is a song by Bournemouth-based band Air Traffic taken from their debut album, ''Fractured Life'', released on 2 July 2007. It was the first song from the band to be added to the influential BBC Radio 1 playlist, where it was added to the 1-Up-front playlist, as well as being crowned "Hottest Record In The World" AND "Single Of The Week" by Radio 1's Zane Lowe. It was released as an Extended play, EP along with 3 other songs from the album on 30 October 2006, as the band's first release with EMI Records. "Time Goes By" is found on the EP as an acoustic version, and would later be re-recorded with the full band for the album.
