Fotovision
Fotovision was a non-profit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was founded in 2003 by a group of photojournalists, media professionals and educators from US photojournalism programs. The organization's 1,000+ members were amateur photographers as well as professionals. Fotovision ceased operation in 2011. Melanie Light was executive director and steered the organization from its inception creating workshops, public events and publications. Mission The primary mission of Fotovision was to support photographers in creating, editing, funding and distributing a body of work. To accomplish this, it worked with an international network of photographers, editors, printers, publishers and arts administrators to offer workshops for photographers of all skill levels. As of 2011 Fotovision and its assets were donated to UC Berkeley where the University continues an annual artist talk in its name. Larry Fink (photographer)
Larry Fink (born March 11, 1941) is an American photographer best known for his black-and-white images of people at parties and in other social situations. Life and career Fink was born in 1941 in Brooklyn, New York. His father, Bernard Fink, was a lawyer, and mother, Sylvia Caplan Fink, was an anti-nuclear weapon activist and an elder rights activist for the Gray Panthers. His younger sister was noted lawyer Elizabeth Fink (1945–2015). He grew up in a politically conscious household and has described himself as "a Marxist from Long Island." James Nachtwey
James Nachtwey (born March 14, 1948) is an American photojournalist and war photographer. He has been awarded the Overseas Press Club's Robert Capa Gold Medal five times and two World Press Photo awards. In 2003, Nachtwey was injured in a grenade attack on his convoy while working in Baghdad, from which he made a full recovery. Nachtwey has worked with ''Time'' as a contract photographer since 1984. Joel Meyerowitz
Joel Meyerowitz (born March 6, 1938) is an American street, portrait and landscape photographer. He began photographing in color in 1962 and was an early advocate of the use of color during a time when there was significant resistance to the idea of color photography as serious art. In the early 1970s he taught photography at the Cooper Union in New York City. His work is in the collections of the International Center of Photography, Museum of Modern Art, and New York Public Library, all in New York, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. The UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism is a Graduate student, graduate Journalism school, professional school on the campus of University of California, Berkeley. It is among the top graduate journalism schools in the United States, and is designed to produce journalists with a two-year Master of Journalism (MJ) degree.
