Fotografisk Center
Fotografisk Center is an exhibition space in Copenhagen, Denmark, dedicated to international and Danish photographic art. Since 1 January 2016 it has been based in the Copenhagen Meat Packing District (Det Brune Kødbyen) at Staldgade 16, 1799 Copenhagen V. History The Fotografisk Centre was established in 1996 by the photographer Lars Schwander. It was originally based in the ground floor of Kunstforeningen's building on Gammel Strand When the building closed for a major refurbishment in mid-2008, the centre moved to a temporary address on Amaliegade. Faced with years of disturbance due to the upcoming construction of a station on the new City Circle Line of the Copenhagen Metro, it was decided not to return to Gammel Strand after the renovation but instead to look for new and larger premises. Alfred Guzzetti
Alfred Guzzetti (born 1942) is a maker of documentary and experimental films and tapes. His work has been shown at the New York Film Festival, the Margaret Mead Festival, and other festivals in London, Rotterdam, Germany, Spain and France, as well as in installation settings in New York, Copenhagen, and Santa Monica. Education Alfred Guzzetti was born in Philadelphia and attended the public schools there. He earned a BA from Central High School and a second BA from Harvard College. He studied at Birkbeck College, University of London, as a Marshall Scholar, and received a Ph.D. in English Literature from Harvard University, where he now teaches. The National Museum of Denmark (Nationalmuseet) in Copenhagen is Denmark's largest museum of cultural history, comprising the histories of Danish and foreign cultures, alike. Charlotte Haslund-Christensen
Charlotte Haslund-Christensen (born 1963) is a Danish lens-based visual artist born and based in Copenhagen. Bruce Gilden
Bruce Gilden (born 1946) is an American street photographer. He is best known for his candid close-up photographs of people on the streets of New York City, using a flashgun. He has had various books of his work published, has received the European Publishers Award for Photography and is a Guggenheim Fellow. Gilden has been a member of Magnum Photos since 1998. Viggo Rivad
Viggo Reinholdt Rivad (3 July 1922 – 8 February 2016) was a Danish photographer who started as an autodidact in 1946, and went on to win numerous competitions in the 1950s and 1960s. Around 1960, he adopted his so-called "essay approach", resulting in a series of related photographs, such as ''Et farvel'' (1962) and ''Laurits'' (1971). Rivad, who also earned a living as a taxi driver, was a quiet, dedicated photographer, concentrating on disadvantaged areas and people on the fringes of society. His humanitarian messages were a result of his indignation, and his concern for society's outcasts. Rivad died in Copenhagen on 8 February 2016 at the age of 93. Man Ray (born Emmanuel Radnitzky; August 27, 1890 – November 18, 1976) was an American visual artist who spent most of his career in Paris. He was a significant contributor to the Dada and Surrealism, Surrealist movements, although his ties to each were informal. Yoko Ono
Yoko Ono ( ; ja, 小野 洋子, Ono Yōko, usually spelled in katakana ; born February 18, 1933) is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist. Her work also encompasses performance art and filmmaking. Ono grew up in Tokyo and moved to New York City in 1953 with her family. She became involved with New York City's downtown artists scene in the early 1960s, which included the Fluxus group, and became well known in 1969 when she married English musician John Lennon of the Beatles. The couple used their honeymoon as a stage for public protests against the Vietnam War. Georg Oddner
Georg Oddner (17 October 1923 – 7 October 2007) was one of Sweden's greatest photographers from the 20th century. Oddner was a jazz musician and studying advertising in the 1940s when he first came into contact with photography through John Melin, art director at Svenska Telegrambyrån in Malmö, the largest advertising agency in Scandinavia. From there, Oddner began working a variety of advertising jobs, including industry, architecture, and clothing, as well as for SAS. In the mid-1950s Oddner traveled to California, South America, the Soviet Union, and the far east. During these travels he was able to pursue photography for his own purposes. Inge Morath
Ingeborg Hermine Morath (; 27 May 1923 – 30 January 2002) was an Austrian photographer. In 1953, she joined the Magnum Photos Agency, founded by top photographers in Paris, and became a full photographer with the agency in 1955. Morath was the third wife of playwright Arthur Miller; their daughter is screenwriter/director Rebecca Miller. Duane Michals
Duane Michals ( "Michaels"; born February 18, 1932) is an American photographer. Michals's work makes innovative use of photo-sequences, often incorporating text to examine emotion and philosophy. Education and career Michals's interest in art began at age 14 while attending watercolor university classes at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh. In 1953, he received a B.A. from the University of Denver. In 1956, after two years in the Army, he went on to study at the Parsons School of Design with a plan to become a graphic designer; however, he did not complete his studies.
