The United States census of 2010 was the twenty-third United States national census. National Census Day, the reference day used for the census, was April 1, 2010. The census was taken via mail-in citizen self-reporting, with enumerators serving to spot-check randomly selected neighborhoods and communities. As part of a drive to increase the count's accuracy, 635,000 temporary enumerators were hired. The population of the United States was counted as 308,745,538, a 9.7% increase from the 2000 census. Basil Samuel Foster (12 February 1882 – 28 September 1959) was an English actor and cricketer who played 34 first-class matches in the early 20th century. He was born in Malvern, Worcestershire, and died in Pield Heath, Hillingdon, Middlesex, aged 77. He was the inspiration for the Wodehouse character, Catsmeat Potter-Pirbright, having become a stage actor so that he could also play county cricket. Life and career Anthony Foster was born on 12 January 1953 in Oakleigh, Victoria to Ken and Joyce Foster, a Methodist family, who were emigrants from the United Kingdom. Anthony Foster (1705 – April 1779), of Collon, County Louth, was an Anglo-Irish politician and judge. He was the eldest son of John Foster, MP for Dunleer, and his wife Elizabeth Fortescue, youngest daughter of William Fortescue of Newrath, who was a member of the Fortescue family which later held the title Earl of Clermont.
