Formula Manipal
Formula Manipal is a Manipal Academy of Higher Education-based on a student project which aims to design, build and test a Formula-style race car. It started as an abstract idea in 2007, and today it has become the largest and most successful student initiative of Manipal University. The team consists of over sixty inter-disciplinary undergraduates who aim to conceive, design, fabricate, develop, and compete with Formula style vehicles at International Formula Student events. Formula Manipal has been competing in the International Formula Student competitions for the past ten years. It made its debut in 2008 at FSAE Italy with the FM08. In the following year, the team participated in the Formula Student event in UK with the FM09. The team then had a successful participation in FS Austria with the FM-X, the season 2010 car. Manipal
Manipal is a suburb and university town within Udupi, in coastal Karnataka, India. Manipal is located five kilometres away from the centre of Udupi City, in Udupi District, Karnataka (state) in south western India. It is administered by the Udupi City Municipality. Formula Student
Formula Student is a student engineering competition held annually in the UK. Student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula style racing car. The cars are judged on a number of criteria as listed below. It is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and uses the same rules as the original Formula SAE with supplementary regulations. Ambassadors of Formula Student include David Brabham, Paddy Lowe, Willem Toet, Leena Gade, Dallas Campbell, Mike Gascoyne, and James Allison. FSAE
Formula SAE is a student design competition organized by SAE International (previously known as the Society of Automotive Engineers, SAE). The competition was started in 1980 by the SAE student branch at the University of Texas at Austin after a prior asphalt racing competition proved to be unsustainable. Concept The concept behind Formula SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a student design team to develop a small Formula-style race car. The prototype race car is to be evaluated for its potential as a production item. The target marketing group for the race car is the non-professional weekend autocross racer.
