The ''Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide'' is a supplement to the 4th edition of the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' role-playing game. Contents The ''Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide'' includes everything a Dungeon Master needs to run a 4th edition ''D&D'' campaign in the Forgotten Realms setting, as well as elements that DMs can incorporate into their own ''D&D'' campaigns. The book provides background information on the lands of Faerûn, a fully detailed town in which to start a campaign, adventure seeds, new monsters, ready-to-play non-player characters, and a full-color poster map of Faerûn. A role-playing game (sometimes spelled roleplaying game, RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of player character, characters in a fictional Setting (narrative), setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making regarding character development. Actions taken within many games succeed or fail according to a formal role-playing game system, system of rules and guidelines. There are several forms of role-playing games. Rob Lazzaretti is an artist whose work has appeared largely as a cartographer for roleplaying games, particularly the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game from TSR. Biography Rob Lazzaretti was born and raised in central Illinois. His father was an avid wargamer, and introduced him to role-playing games; while they were at a hobby shop, Lazzaretti discovered the first edition ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' books, and as he puts it "was instantly hooked". Benjamin (Ben) Charles Wootten is a graphic artist and designer based in Wellington, New Zealand. Early life and education Wootten was born in Essex, England in 1969, and his family moved to New Zealand when he was three. He grew up in Whakatane. Sam Wood is an artist whose work has appeared in role-playing games. Works Sam Wood did his first work for Wizards of the Coast in 1995, and later became a staff illustrator. Matthew D. "Matt" Wilson is an artist whose work has appeared in role-playing games. He is one of the founders, the owner, and the CEO of Privateer Press. Career Matt Wilson started as an artist with Alderac Entertainment Group around 1995, and worked there as an art director before also doing art direction for companies Wizards of the Coast and FASA. Francis Tsai (April 14, 1967 – April 23, 2015) was an American comic book artist, illustrator, author and conceptual artist. He was of Taiwanese and Japanese ancestry. Early life Tsai was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in Lubbock, Texas. He initially studied chemistry, before receiving a graduate degree in architecture.
