Forgotten Faces (1928 Film)
''Forgotten Faces'' is a 1928 American silent drama film directed by Victor Schertzinger and starring Clive Brook, Mary Brian, and Olga Baclanova. The production was overseen by David O. Selznick, a rising young producer at the time. The film was remade by Paramount in 1936 as a sound film. The film is preserved with copies at the Library of Congress and the Museum of Modern Art. This film is Paramount's remake of their 1920 film '' Heliotrope''. Plot A criminal Heliotrope Harry (Clive Brook) comes home after a stick-up job and finds his wife Lilly ( Olga Baclanova) in bed with another man. He shoots his rival and deposits their baby daughter Alice (Mary Brian) on a rich couple's doorstep. While serving a life sentence, Harry is updated on his daughter's happy life by his old criminal associate Froggy (William Powell). For years, his vengeful wife seeks their daughter in vain. Victor Schertzinger
Victor L. Schertzinger (April 8, 1888 – October 26, 1941) was an American composer, film director, film producer, and screenwriter. His films include '' Paramount on Parade'' (co-director, 1930), ''Something to Sing About'' (1937) with James Cagney, and the first two "Road" pictures '' Road to Singapore'' ( 1940) and '' Road to Zanzibar'' (1941). His two best-known songs are " I Remember You" and "Tangerine", both with lyrics by Johnny Mercer and both featured in Schertzinger's final film, '' The Fleet's In'' ( 1942). Life and career Schertzinger was born in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, the child of musical parents of Pennsylvania Dutch descent, and attracted attention as a violin prodigy at the age of four. Symona Ferner Boniface (March 5, 1894 – September 2, 1950) was an American film actress, most frequently seen in bit parts in comedy shorts, mostly at Columbia Pictures, particularly those of '' The Three Stooges''. Ernie Adams (actor)
Ernie Adams (born Ernest Stephen Dumarais; June 18, 1885 – November 26, 1947) was an American vaudevillian performer, stage and screen actor and writer. Biography Born in San Francisco, California to Leon D. Adams and Laurence G. Girard, he was also billed as Ernest S. Adams and Ernie S. Adams. He appeared in vaudeville, theater, and film. He started his career in musical comedy on Broadway. Along with his wife Berdonna Gilbert, he formed the vaudeville team "Gilbert and Adams". He appeared in more than 400 films starting from the silent era between 1919 and 1948, and was particularly known for playing shady characters. On Broadway, Adams appeared in ''Toot-Toot!'' (1918). On November 26, 1947, Adams died of an acute pulmonary edema at the West Olympic Sanitarium in Los Angeles, California, aged 62. Jack Luden
Jacob Benson Luden (February 8, 1902 – February 15, 1951) was an American film actor. Early life The son of Jacob and Anna Luden, he grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania. His uncle was confectioner William H. Luden, who developed the menthol cough drop. His passion as a young man had been athletics. While studying at the New York Military Academy, he had participated in trials for the 1920 Summer Olympics. During the trials, he broke his leg, preventing him from pursuing an athletic career. Film career In 1925, Luden joined the Paramount Pictures School, a newly established acting school founded by the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation. There were 17 other members of the school when it opened, including Charles "Buddy" Rogers and Thelma Todd. The work of the school's students was highlighted in the 1926 film ''Fascinating Youth''.
