Matthew Barnes, known by his stage name Forest Swords, is an English record producer, composer, DJ, and artist. Career ''Dagger Paths'' EP Forest Swords's debut six-track EP, '' Dagger Paths'', was originally released in March 2010, before being reissued later that year with additional tracks. ''FACT Magazine'' named it their album of the year. It received an 8.4 rating on music website ''Pitchfork'' and was No. 48 on their Albums of the Year list. It was rated 9/10 on music website ''Drowned in Sound'', called "one of 2010's finest underground records" by ''NME'', and chosen as a 'Hidden Gem of 2010' in ''The Guardian''. ''Engravings'' Forest Swords' debut studio album, ''Engravings'', was released through Tri Angle Records on 26 August 2013. Critical response was unanimously positive, with ''Pitchfork'' giving it an 8.5 Best New Music review and ''Resident Advisor'' a 4.5/5 review. Wirral (; ), known locally as The Wirral, is a peninsula in North West England. The roughly rectangular peninsula is about long and wide and is bounded by the River Dee, Wales, River Dee to the west (forming the boundary with Wales), the River Mersey to the east, and the Irish Sea to the north. Historically, the Wirral was wholly in Cheshire; in the Domesday Book, its border with the rest of the county was placed at "two arrow falls from Chester city walls". ''Compassion'' is the second studio album by British electronic music artist Forest Swords, released on 5 May 2017. The album is Forest Swords' second, following 2013's ''Engravings''. The first single from the album, "The Highest Flood", was released on 7 March 2017. ''Compassion'' was announced on 30 March 2017, and accompanied by another track from the album, "Arms Out", featuring a video directed by Sam Wiehl and Forest Swords himself. On 26 April 2017, a third track, "Panic", was released, again with a video directed by the artist. A further single featuring two tracks from the ''Compassion'' album recording sessions—"Congregate" and "Free"—was released on 28 September, with all proceeds going to relief work in Mexico and Puerto Rico. These New Puritans are an English music group/band from Southend-on-Sea, England. It consists mainly of Jack Barnett (principal songwriter, vocalist, producer, multi-instrumentalist) and his twin brother George Barnett (drums, electronics, producer, artwork). Multi-instrumentalist Thomas Hein was an active member of TNP between 2006 and 2016; keyboardist Sophie Sleigh-Johnson was active between 2006 and 2010. Chantal Francesca Passamonte (28 October 1969 – 25 March 2022), known professionally as Mira Calix ( ), was a South African-born, British-based audio and visual artist and musician signed to Warp Records. Although her earlier music is almost exclusively electronic, from the 2000s onwards she incorporated writing for classical instrumentation into her musical works and expanded her practice to include multidisciplinary performance, film and multi-channel installation artworks. Laurel Anne Chartow (born June 3, 1985), known professionally as Laurel Halo, is an American electronic musician currently based in Berlin, Germany. Orbital (band)
Orbital are an English electronic music duo from Otford, Kent, England, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll. The band's name is taken from Greater London's orbital motorway, the M25, which was central to the early rave scene during the early days of acid house. Additionally, the cover art on three of their albums showcase stylised atomic orbitals. Orbital have been critically and commercially successful, known particularly for their live improvisation during shows. They were initially influenced by early electro and punk rock. Dead Can Dance
Dead Can Dance are an Australian music duo first established in Melbourne. Currently composed of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry, the group formed in 1981. They relocated to London the following year. Australian music historian Ian McFarlane described Dead Can Dance's style as "constructed soundscapes of mesmerising grandeur and solemn beauty; African polyrhythms, Gaelic folk, Gregorian chant, Middle Eastern music, mantras, and art rock."
