Foreigners' Street
Foreigners' Street or Yangren Jie (sometimes just Foreigner Street; ) was an amusement park and entertainment area in Chongqing, China. It combined various styles of architecture, food, and attractions from around the world. It was northwest of Jiefangbei on the other side of the Yangtze River. As part of an urban development plan and upon expiration of land lease, the Yangren Jie was ordered to close and vacate starting on March 1, 2019. It was planned to be relocated to Fuling district, Chongqing. The theme park was established in 2006 and covers 3.5 km2. Initially the site was seen as a European-style pedestrian street. The park includes recreations of well-known landmarks such as a 10-meter Christ the Redeemer statue from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and a 150-meter section of the Great Wall of China. The site is open 24 hours a day, with free entry, and has been described as "overly kitschy". Foreigners have been encouraged to set up shops, hence the name. Buildings incl ... Kitsch ( ; loanword from German) is a term applied to art and design that is perceived as naïve imitation, overly-eccentric, gratuitous, or of banal taste. Love Land (China)
Love Land would have been the first sex theme park in China; the PRC Government suspended its construction in Chongqing in May 2009 and ordered it demolished for being vulgar and explicit. The park was to include displays of giant genitalia and naked bodies, and host an exhibition on the history of human sexuality along with sex technique workshops. The closure is a reflection of the conservatism with regard to sex in China. The theme park was originally due to be opened in October 2009, but was demolished in May 2009, as it was deemed to be a negative influence on Chinese society. The attraction would have been near Foreigners' Street, an amusement park than includes the world's largest toilet, the Porcelain Palace, which itself was purged of anything seen as vulgar by the Chinese authorities. Nan'an District
Nan'an District (), is one of the six central districts of Chongqing municipality, China. It covers an area of 262.43 km2, with 44 km2 covered with forests and woods. It has an estimated population of 891,000 in late 2017. Geography The Yangtze River curves around the north and west border of Nan'an district for about 45 kilometers. The river separates Nan'an from its neighbouring districts such as Jiulongpo, Yuzhong, Jiangbei, and Yubei. The bridges crossing the Yangtze River are the primary passage for transportations to and from the other side of the river.
