Foreign Affairs Committee (Iceland)
The Foreign Affairs Committee ( is, Utanríkismálanefnd) is a standing committee of the Icelandic parliament. Jurisdiction According to la№ 55/1991, with later amendments all matters relating to the following subjects are referred to the Foreign Affairs Committee: * External communication * International organisations * Defence * Security * Export * European Economic Area (EEA) * Development aid * International and global affairs Members, 140th parliament The main members have seats in the committees and attend the meetings. When they are unable to do so the substitute members temporarily take their place. A committee or commission is a body of one or more persons subordinate to a deliberative assembly. A committee is not itself considered to be a form of assembly. Usually, the assembly sends matters into a committee as a way to explore them more fully than would be possible if the assembly itself were considering them. Committees may have different functions and their types of work differ depending on the type of the organization and its needs. A member of a legislature may be delegated a committee assignment, which gives them the right to serve on a certain committee. Purpose A deliberative assembly may form a committee (or "commission") consisting of one or more persons to assist with the work of the assembly. For larger organizations, much work is done in committees. Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson (born 9 June 1968) is an Icelandic politician for the Center Party. He is a member of the Althingi (Iceland's parliament) for the Centre Party for the Northwest of Iceland constituency since 2017. He was the Chairman of the Progressive Party 2009–2013. Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson
Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson (pronounced Help:IPA/Icelandic, [ˈsɪːɣʏrðʏr ˈiŋgɪ ˈjouːhansɔn]; born 20 April 1962) is an Icelandic politician, who was the prime minister of Iceland from April 2016 to January 2017. Ólöf Nordal (3 December 1966 – 8 February 2017) was an Icelandic politician who was the Minister of the Interior of Iceland from 4 December 2014 to 11 January 2017. She died on 8 February 2017. Ásmundur Einar Daðason (born 29 October 1982) is an Icelandic politician. Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson (; born 12 March 1975) is an Icelandic politician who was the prime minister of Iceland from May 2013 until April 2016. He was also chairman of the Progressive Party from 2009 to October 2016. He was elected to the Althing (Iceland's parliament) as the 8th member for the Reykjavík North Constituency on 25 April 2009.
