Ólöf Nordal
Ólöf Nordal (3 December 1966 – 8 February 2017) was an Icelandic politician who was the Minister of the Interior of Iceland from 4 December 2014 to 11 January 2017. She died on 8 February 2017. She was a member of the Independence Party. Early life Ólöf graduated from Reykjavík Upper Secondary School in 1986. She received a law degree from the University of Iceland in 1994 and an MBA from Reykjavík University in 2002. Career Ólöf worked as a teacher, lawyer, and in the administration prior to entering politics. She served as a department head in the Ministry of Transport and Communications from 1996 through 1999. Thereafter, she worked as a lawyer for the Iceland Stock Exchange from 1999 until 2001, and as an instructor of law at Bifröst University from 1999 until 2002, where she chaired the Business Law Department. The Minister of the Interior ( is, Innanríkisráðherra) was the head of Iceland's Ministry of the Interior ( is, Innanríkisráðuneyti Íslands) from 2011 to 2017. The Ministry of the Interior was created on 1 January 2011 as the result of the merger of two ministries, those of '' Justice and Human Rights'' and ''Transport, Communications and Local Government''. In the cabinet of Bjarni Benediktsson, formed on 11 January 2017 following the 2016 parliamentary election, the Ministry of the Interior initially still existed as an umbrella ministry for two ministers, the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Transport and Local Government. On 1 May 2017, the Ministry of the Interior was formally dissolved and split into the two new ministries of Justice () and Transport and Local Government (). The Icelandic Ministry of Communications ( is, Samgönguráðuneytið) was a cabinet-level ministry responsible for transport by land, sea and air, as well as telecommunications and postal services. Panama Papers
The Panama Papers ( es, Papeles de Panamá) are 11.5 million leaked documents (or 2.6 terabytes of data) that were published beginning on April 3, 2016. The papers detail financial and attorney–client information for more than 214,488 offshore entities. The documents, some dating back to the 1970s, were created by, and taken from, former Panamanian offshore law firm and corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca. The documents contain personal financial information about wealthy individuals and public officials that had previously been kept private. Electricity Sector In Iceland
The electricity sector in Iceland is 99.98% reliant on renewable energy: hydro power, geothermal energy and wind energy. Iceland's consumption of electricity per capita was seven times higher than EU 15 average in 2008. The majority of the electricity is sold to industrial users, mainly aluminium smelters and producers of ferroalloy. The aluminum industry in Iceland used 71% of produced electricity in 2011. RARIK
RARIK is the official energy corporation of Iceland. It began operations on January 1 1947. In the early years RARIK built several power plants and in 1954 enacted a 10-year electrification plan to provide remote rural areas with electricity.
