Force Theory
Force Theory was a musical production team and performance art band from Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Force Theory Productions Force Theory Productions was formed in 2004 by bandmates Ion Michael Furjanic and Neill Sanford Livingston. The partnership are best known for composing and sound designing independent documentaries. In 2005, Force Theory composed and sound designed the film ''Favela Rising'', which won 24 international film festivals and was short-listed for the Academy Awards. The team went on to score and sound design the film ''Jesus Camp'' by Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, which was released theatrically by Magnolia Pictures and was nominated for the 2007 best documentary Academy Award. In late 2007, Force Theory added 7 songs to ''Manda Bala'' (Send a Bullet) by Jason Kohn, which won the grand jury prize for documentary at the Sundance Film Festival. Fort Greene
Fort Greene is a neighborhood in the northwestern part of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood is bounded by Flushing Avenue and the Brooklyn Navy Yard to the north, Flatbush Avenue Extension and Downtown Brooklyn to the west, Atlantic Avenue and Prospect Heights to the south, and Vanderbilt Avenue and Clinton Hill to the east. The Fort Greene Historic District is listed on the New York State Registry and on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a New York City designated historic district. Favela Rising
''Favela Rising'' is a 2005 documentary film by American directors Jeff Zimbalist and Matt Mochary. It was produced by Sidetrack Films and VOY Pictures. It debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 24, 2005, where it won the award for ''Best New Documentary Filmmaker'' for Zimbalist and Mochary. The film's look at life in Brazil's slums won it further awards such as ''Best Documentary Film'' from the New York Latino Film Festival and ''Best Feature Documentary'' from Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. ''Jesus Camp'' is a 2006 American documentary film directed by Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing about a charismatic Christian summer camp, where children spend their summers being taught that they have "prophetic gifts" and can "take back America for Christ". According to the distributor, it "doesn't come with any prepackaged point of view" and attempts to be "an honest and impartial depiction of one faction of the evangelical Christian community". Heidi Ewing
Heidi Ewing is an American documentary filmmaker and the co-director of ''Jesus Camp'', '' The Boys of Baraka'', '' 12th & Delaware'', ''DETROPIA'', ''Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You'' (Sundance Film Festival), '' One of Us'' (Toronto International Film Festival), and the series ''Love Fraud'' (Sundance Film Festival). Rachel () was a Biblical figure, the favorite of Jacob's two wives, and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, two of the twelve progenitors of the tribes of Israel. Rachel's father was Laban.
