Norway was represented by Karoline Krüger, with the song "For vår jord", at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 30 April in Dublin. "For vår jord" was chosen as the Norwegian entry at the Melodi Grand Prix on 26 March. Karoline Krüger
Karoline Krüger (born 13 February 1970 in Bergen, Norway) is a Norwegian singer, actress and composer. Career Krüger's first TV appearance was at the age of 11, in a youth show called ''Halvsju''. She got her breakthrough in 1988, first by winning the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix with the song "For vår jord" ("For Our Earth"), still a student at Langhaugen Skole (1986–89). This qualified her for the Eurovision Song Contest 1988 final, held that year in the Irish capital Dublin, where she finished fifth. Later that same year she released her debut CD, ''Fasetter''. She sings the ballad ''You Call It Love'', from the film ''L'etudiante'', a song composed by Vladimir Cosma. The song was covered by Richard Sanderson. Lise Haavik (born 23 February 1962) is a Norwegian-Danish singer, best known for representing Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest in Bergen, Norway in 1986. She is also well-known domestically for her partnership in the duo Trax with John Hatting, her ex-husband. Biography Early life Lise Haavik was born in Narvik, Norway on 23 February 1962. She moved to Denmark in 1982 to study economics at the University of Odense and the Copenhagen Business School. Haavik partnered with John Hatting in late 1983 and they soon married. Norway has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since making its debut in and has only been absent twice since then. In 1970, the country boycotted the contest over disagreements about the voting structure, and in 2002, they were relegated. Idar Lind (born 23 September 1954) is a Norwegian novelist, crime fiction writer, songwriter and playwright. Biography Lind was born on the island of Otterøya (now part of Namsos) in Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. He made his literary debut in 1983 with ''Stengte dører''. He was awarded the Riverton Prize in 1989 for the crime novel ''13 takters blues''. Siri Beathe Gellein (born 1 October 1966 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian Musician (vocals) and journalist, known from several albums, bands and television programs. Career Her own Siri's Svale Band (established in 1987) performs ("sval") cool jazz, with soul. Sverre Kjelsberg
Sverre Kjelsberg (18 October 1946 – 18 June 2016) was a Norwegian singer, guitarist, bassist, composer, and lyricist. He was a member of the band The Pussycats from 1964. He and Mattis Hætta represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the entry '' Sámiid Ædnan'', which was composed by Kjelsberg and Ragnar Olsen. On 18 June 2016, Kjelsberg was found dead in his home, aged 69. He had been ill with cancer previously, but was declared cancer-free in 2015. No cause of death has been determined.
