Football in Stockholm organises about 60,000 players and is governed by Stockholm Football Association since 1917. Stockholm has several of Sweden's leading football clubs, and the city is home to 39 teams in the national league system and more than 100 amateur leagues regulated by the Stockholm Football Association. At the moment there are three Stockholm teams in the first-tier Allsvenskan, four in the second-tier Superettan, four in the third-tier Division 1. Stockholm's most successful team is AIK, with twelve national championship golds and eight cup golds. Djurgårdens IF has twelve national championship golds and five cup golds. BKV Norrtälje is a Swedish football club located in Norrtälje. Background Bollklubben Vargarna were founded in 1933, the club's name being changed to Bollklubben Vargarna Norrtälje in 1993. Superettan
Superettan (; meaning the super first (division)) is an association football league and the second highest league in the league system of Swedish men's football. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Allsvenskan and Division 1. Seasons run from April to October, with teams playing 30 matches each, totalling 240 matches in the season. The league was created in 2000. The second tier of Swedish football had previously consisted of a varying number of regionalized leagues operating under the Division 2 (1924–1986) and Division 1 (1987–1999) names. Allsvenskan (; en, the All-Swedish, also known as Fotbollsallsvenskan, en, the Football All-Swedish) is a Swedish professional league for men's association football clubs. It was founded in 1924 and is the top tier of the Swedish football league system, operating on a system of promotion and relegation with Superettan. Huddinge IF is a Swedish football club located in Huddinge, a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Background Huddinge Idrottsförening is the municipality's oldest sports club. Assyriska Fotbollsföreningen, also known simply as Assyriska FF, is a Swedish football club based in Södertälje, Stockholm County.
