Group D of the men's football tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics took place from 26 July to 1 August 2012 in Coventry's City of Coventry Stadium, Glasgow's Hampden Park, Manchester's Old Trafford and Newcastle's St James' Park. The group contained Honduras, Japan, Morocco and Spain. Football At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's football tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics was held in London and five other cities in Great Britain from 26 July to 11 August. Associations affiliated with FIFA were invited to enter their men's U-23 teams in regional qualifying competitions, from which 15 teams, plus the hosts Great Britain, reached the final tournament. Men's teams were allowed to augment their squads with three players over the age of 23. It was the first men's Olympic football tournament to feature a team representing Great Britain since the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. The competition also marks the return of Uruguay to an Olympic Championship since 1928 when it became two-time champions. The gold medal was won by Mexico who defeated Brazil 2–1 in the final. Mario Martínez (footballer, Born 1989)
Mario Roberto Martínez Hernández (born 30 July 1989) is a Honduran footballer who plays as a midfielder for Marathón. Born in San Pedro Sula, Martínez played for the Honduras national football team from 2010 to 2018. Club career Martínez was spotted by Norwegian scouts during the tournament against Trinidad and Tobago and shortly after went on loan to Norwegian side, Vålerenga. He also travelled to Norway alongside U-20 teammate, Reinieri Mayorquín who went on loan to Aalesund. Martínez made his debut in Tippeligaen when Vålerenga lost 3–4 against Start on 3 May 2009, but were mostly playing for Vålerenga's reserve team in the Second Division. Martínez only got two appearances for Vålerenga, both coming on as a substitute. Arnold Peralta
Arnold Fabián Peralta Sosa (29 March 1989 – 10 December 2015) was a Honduran footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He began his career at Vida in 2008, and five years later he joined Scottish club Rangers, where he won the Scottish League One in 2013–14. After being released in January 2015, he returned to his homeland with Olimpia. Peralta was a full international with 26 caps for the Honduras national football team from his debut in 2011, representing the nation at the 2012 Olympics, although he was not selected for the 2014 FIFA World Cup squad due to injury. He was shot dead on 10 December 2015 in his hometown of La Ceiba. He was buried in Jardines de Paz Ceibeños cemetery. Johnny Harold Leverón Uclés (born 7 February 1990) is a Honduran international footballer who plays for Olimpia in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras. Career Club In December 2008, he signed for F.C. Motagua, and played with the Honduran club until 2012. Leverón made his official debut in the Honduran league on 19 April 2009 with Motagua in the 3–6 defeat against Marathón in San Pedro Sula.
