Football At The 1992 Summer Olympics
The football competition at the 1992 Summer Olympics featured 16 national sides from the six continental confederations. The 16 teams were drawn into four groups of four and each group played a round-robin tournament. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams advanced to the knockout stage, beginning with the quarter-finals and culminating with the gold medal match at Camp Nou on 8 August 1992. For the first time, an age limit has been set for participants under the age of 23, which has been used ever since. Spain became the first host country to win the gold medal in an Olympic football tournament since Belgium in 1920, an achievement which would not be repeated again until Brazil won it in 2016. Till 2022, Spain is still the last European side that won the gold medal at men's football event in the Summer Olympics. Andrzej Mieczysław Juskowiak (born 3 November 1970) is a former Polish football striker who played for the Polish national team. Estadio La Romareda is the home stadium of Real Zaragoza, in Zaragoza. It was inaugurated on 8 September 1957, with a game between Real Zaragoza and CA Osasuna (4–3). The official capacity is 33,608, with an average attendance of around 20,000 for Real Zaragoza matches. Currently, it is the 12th-largest stadium in Spain and the largest in Aragon. The stadium has gone through various upgrades, in 1977 and in 1982, when it was a 1982 FIFA World Cup venue.
