Fold A To B
''Fold A to B'' is the second full-length album by Canadian punk rock band The Salads. It was released in 2003, on Maui Wowie Records, and distributed by EMI Music Canada. It is an enhanced CD, and features the videos for both "Get Loose", and "Who's that Kat?". The title of the album is a reference to the ''Mad'' Fold-in by ''Mad'' magazine and the font of the album cover title is a reference to the magazine as well. Recorded in the fall of 2002, this album was The Salads' breakthrough album. It spawned three hit singles, "Get Loose", "The Roth Kung Fu", and "Unhappy", which were all radio hits in Canada. the first single, "Get Loose", was featured in a few Labatt Blue commercials, and was the most successful single from this album, and got steady play on MuchMusic upon its release. EMAC Recording Studios
EMAC Recording Studios is a music and commercial recording facility in London, Ontario, Canada, established in 1979 by Robert Nation and Joe Vaughan. Building EMAC Studios is located at 432 Rectory Street in downtown London, Ontario. The building was originally a Salvation Army church built in the 1900s before it was converted into a recording facility in 1990. The renovation and acoustic design was done by Andy Condon to the specifications set by Robert and Joe. The original EMAC Recording Studios was first located in downtown London in a building which also housed CKSL Radio. It was originally designed as an audio/visual facility, and was later renovated in 1985 once EMAC had begun commercial and jingle work. In 2000, EMAC brought on Dan Brodbeck as a new partner. Dan Brodbeck
Dan Brodbeck is a Canadian record producer, recording engineer/mixer and recording engineering professor based in London, Ontario. Production and engineering career Throughout the 1990s Brodbeck owned dB Recording Studios in London, Ontario. During that time he worked with various artists including The Gandharvas, Brian Vollmer and Garnet Rogers. In 2000, he became a partner at EMAC Recording Studios where he worked with artists such as Headstrong, Helix, Gord Prior, The Salads, Clockwise, Ana Lovelis, Landon Pigg . In 2003, he worked on the debut solo album ''Are You Listening'' by Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries. AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. The Salads
The Salads are a punk rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, with strong reggae tendencies. They are currently signed to their own label, Maui Wowie Records, after having been signed to Kindling Music, a sub-division of Warner Music Canada. History The band started under the name Lynx when its members were elementary school students at Kettleby Public School in King Township, Ontario. School friends, drummer Grant Taylor and guitarist Dave Ziemba, started the group and soon added bassist Chuck Dailey to become a trio. Their early shows included local fairs and their elementary school graduation. After high school, the band moved to Toronto with Darren Dumas joining as lead singer in 1997 as his original band was teetering on a breakup. Libydo, a breakdancer who originally performed as part of dance group Back to Basics, was added later through connections with Dumas. The ''Mad'' Fold-In is a feature found on the inside back cover of virtually every ''Mad (magazine), Mad'' magazine since 1964. Written and drawn by Al Jaffee until 2020, the Fold-In is one of the most well-known aspects of the magazine. The feature was conceived in response to centerfolds in popular magazines, particularly ''Playboy''. Explaining his original inspiration, Jaffee said: In 2011, Jaffee reflected, "The thing that I got a kick out of was... ''Jeopardy!'' showed a fold-in and the contestants all came up with the word they were looking for, which was “fold-in.” So I realized, I created an English language word." Much (an abbreviation for its full name MuchMusic) is a Canadian English language specialty channel owned by BCE Inc. through its Bell Media subsidiary that airs programming aimed at teenagers and young adults. MuchMusic launched on August 31, 1984, under the ownership of CHUM Limited, and was originally focused on music programming, including blocks of music videos and original series focusing on Canadian musicians. In the years since its acquisition by Bell, Much has cancelled the majority of its music programming due to budget and staffing cuts. Instant Star
''Instant Star'' is a Canadian musical comedy-drama television series which aired from 15 September 2004 to 26 June 2008. The series starred Alexz Johnson as teenage singing competition winner Jude Harrison. The show chronicles Harrison's experience in the recording industry whilst focusing on character development. Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stohn of Epitome Pictures produced the show. The show began to air on CTV in Canada before being picked up by the American network Noggin for its teen-oriented block, The N. The show became the second most popular series on The N with '' Degrassi: The Next Generation'', another show also produced by Schuyler and Stohn, ranking as most popular. Four seasons of the show (each with 13 episodes) were produced. CTV and The N both pulled funding following the fourth season, and the executives chose to end the show.
