State Road 290, known locally as East Olive Road, was a major thoroughfare in Pensacola, Florida. It ran from County Road 95A (Old Palafox Road) in the Ensley community east to U.S. Route 90 (Scenic Highway) at Escambia Bay. The road served as the primary east–west route through the Ferry Pass community. Escambia Bay
Escambia Bay is a bay located in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, in the far western Florida Panhandle. The city of Pensacola is located on the western side, and the town of Milton is located on the northeastern end of the two-pronged bay. Both places are the county seats of the respective counties. Unusually, Escambia Bay is connected to open waters via Pensacola Bay to its southeast. It is fed primarily by the Escambia River. State Road 291 (SR 291) is a major thoroughfare in the Pensacola, Florida metropolitan area. Locally, it is known as Davis Street and Davis Highway. It runs from Wright Street in downtown Pensacola north to its terminus at Nine Mile Road ( U.S. Highway 90 Alternate or US 90 Alt.) near the University of West Florida. Between Fairfield Drive ( State Road 295) and University Parkway, Davis is one of the city's major commercial strips. Near its intersection with Interstate 10 (I-10) lies University Mall. State Road 289 (SR 289), known locally as North 9th Avenue, is a north–south major thoroughfare in Pensacola, Florida. Route description SR 289 begins at U.S. Route 98 (US 98), US 98 Business (US 98 Bus.), and unsigned SR 30 in Pensacola, east of the Pensacola Bay Center. At this point, US 98 Bus. and SR 30 head west and US 98 and SR 30 head east on the one-way pair of East Chase Street eastbound and East Gregory Street westbound. The southern terminus of SR 289 also serves as the eastern terminus of US 98 Bus.
