Florentina Bunea is a Romanian-American statistician, interested in machine learning, the theory of empirical processes, and high-dimensional statistics. She is a professor at Cornell University. Education and Career Bunea earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Bucharest in 1989 and 1991. After working as an assistant professor at the Politehnica University of Bucharest from 1991 to 1995, she returned to graduate study at the University of Washington. She earned her Ph.D. there in 2000; her dissertation, ''A Model Selection Approach to Partially Linear Regression'', was supervised by Jon A. Wellner. She joined the statistics faculty at Florida State University in 2000, and moved to Cornell University in 2011. Florentina Ioana Mosora or Florentina Stan-Mosora (7 January 1940 in Cluj, Romania – 2 February 1996 in Liège, Belgium) was a Romanian and Belgian biophysicist. In her earlier years, before 1964, she was a film actress in the Romanian film industry. Biography Mosora initially had a career in acting and was noted for her role in ''Dragoste la zero grade'' ("Love at Zero Degrees", 1964). She also starred in ''Sub cupola albastră'' ("Under the Blue Arch", 1962), ''Post-restant'' ("''Poste Restante''", 1961), and ''Băieţii noştri'' ("Our Boys", 1959). Florentina Olar-Spânu (born 6 August 1985), née Spânu, is a Romanian footballer who plays as a forward for Danish Elitedivisionen club Fortuna Hjørring and the Romania women's national team. Career Spânu has been a member of the Romanian national team from the beginning of her career, having made her debut in September 2001, in a tie 2003 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Croatia. She played for Clujana, which dominated the Romanian First League throughout the decade, until 2009 when she moved abroad. Following a short stint in the Italian Serie A with Lazio, she signed for Apollon Limassol.
