Flohio
Funmi Ohiosumah, known professionally as Flohio (stylised as FLOHIO), is a Nigerian-born British rapper based in South London. Her music is characterised by unusual beats, expansive themes, genre fluidity, and periodic double-time flows. Though some have characterised her work as "grime," Ohiosumah rejects this term as too limiting for her style and approach. As FLOHIO, she performs as a solo artist, but has also collaborated with God Colony and Modeselektor. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, her family immigrated to Bermondsey, South East London when Ohiosumah was nine. Her first EP, titled ''Nowhere Near'', debuted in 2016, followed by her second EP ''Wild Yout'' (2018), and her debut mixtape ''No Panic No Pain'' (2020). Ohiosumah released her debut album, ''Out of Heart'', on 7 October 2022. God Colony are a London-based industrial hip-hop music-producing duo. Their music has featured fellow Soundcloud stars Flohio, BbyMutha, Stash Marina and Kojey Radical. Modeselektor is a German electronic music duo consisting of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary. History The group members met in 1992 in Berlin with group member Szary performing live acid house music at illegal underground parties, under the moniker Fundamental Knowledge. The group says, "After the Wall came down, everywhere in Germany and especially East Germany there was a lot of chaos, anarchy." Both soon joined forces and began creating music as Modeselektor, a name taken from a function on the Roland Space Echo analog delay effects unit. In 1999 Modeselektor signed its first remix contract and began working with Pfadfinderei, a Berlin-based VJ and design collective. Channel U (later known as Channel AKA) was a British digital satellite TV music channel that focused on the British grime scene which ran from February 2003 to June 2018. Channel U was a significant outlet not only for established artists, but also for those who were just starting out, helping the breakthrough for acts such as Tinchy Stryder, Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal, Chip, Wretch 32, Devlin, Giggs, Skepta and N-Dubz. Its material included "crude productions shot with handheld digital video cameras," and helped new musicians attract attention and build a fan base.
