Channel U (UK)
Channel U (later known as Channel AKA) was a British digital satellite TV music channel that focused on the British Grime (music genre), grime scene which ran from February 2003 to June 2018. Channel U was a significant outlet not only for established artists, but also for those who were just starting out, helping the breakthrough for acts such as Tinchy Stryder, Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal, Chip (rapper), Chip, Wretch 32, Devlin (rapper), Devlin, Giggs (rapper), Giggs, Skepta and N-Dubz. Its material included "crude productions shot with handheld digital video cameras," and helped new musicians attract attention and build a fan base. According to its website, "the aim of the channel was to highlight to the public, the raw and unsigned talent we have in the UK, and give them a platform from which they could perform," and it has been successful in this mission, as suggested by the production and popularity of such compilation CDs as ''Channel U: The Album''. Sway DaSafo
Derek Andrew Safo (born 5 September 1982), better known by his stage name Sway or Sway DaSafo, is a British rapper of Ghanaian descent. He is also a producer, having established Dcypha Productions, signed to Island/Universal (label founder). Safo's 2008 track "Black Stars" gave appreciation to popular Ghanaians across the diaspora. Sway's first big track, "On My Own" was released under the name Sway DaSafo. Jermain Defoe
Jermain Colin Defoe (born 7 October 1982) is an English football coach and former professional player. He was most recently the under-18s coach at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. Defoe was a striker and began his career with Charlton Athletic, joining their youth team aged 14, before moving to West Ham United aged 16 and rising through the ranks. Pimp My Ride
''Pimp My Ride'' is a staged American television series produced by MTV and hosted by rapper Xzibit, which ran for six seasons on MTV from 2004 to 2007. In each episode, a car in poor condition is both restored and customized. The work on the show was done by West Coast Customs until season 5 and was done by Galpin Auto Sports thereafter. The show had several international adaptations, including '' Pimp My Ride UK'', ''Pimp My Ride International'' (in central Europe), and other adaptations in Brazil, Indonesia and the Baltic countries. It also spawned similar spinoffs, including the series '' Trick My Truck'' on MTV's sister network CMT.
