Flipsyde
Flipsyde is an American alternative hip hop group from Oakland, California. Career Flipsyde currently consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Steve Knight, lead guitarist Dave Lopez, and rapper The Piper (Jinho Ferreira). Their 2005 debut album, ''We the People'', was released by Interscope Records and featured the singles " Happy Birthday" and " Someday", with the latter chosen as a theme song by NBC for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, and appeared on the soundtrack for the 2008 film ''Never Back Down''. Flipsyde's 2008 follow-up album, ''State of Survival'', featured production by Akon and a minor hit in "When It Was Good", but the record did not chart. The group was subsequently dropped by Interscope Records. Flipsyde released two EP's independently in 2011 and 2012. The group is currently working on a new project together. ''We the People'' is the debut album by alternative hip-hop group Flipsyde, released by Interscope Records subsidiary Cherrytree on July 12, 2005. Promotion Flipsyde toured Europe with Snoop Dogg and The Black Eyed Peas in support of the album, and sales were spurred by the single " Someday" being played in advertising for NBC's broadcast of the 2006 Winter Olympics. ''We the People'' peaked at #43 on ''Billboard's'' Top Heatseekers chart in 2006, and sold 62,000 copies. A limited-edition reissue including five additional tracks was released in 2006, packaged with an accompanying DVD. "Someday" is a single by alternative hip-hop group Flipsyde, from their 2005 debut album ''We the People''. Release "Someday" was chosen by NBC as the theme song to advertise their coverage of the 2006 Winter Olympics, as the network felt its sound would attract younger viewers. Though the single did not chart in the United States, the resulting exposure led to an increase in album sales and Flipsyde performing at the 2006 Winter X Games. Two music videos were produced, one by NBC featuring ice skaters Michelle Kwan and Apolo Anton Ohno, and the other as the official video. The track was additionally included in the soundtrack of the 2008 film ''Never Back Down''.
