''Flammes'' is a 2002 compilation album by the France, French pop act Niagara (band), Niagara, released nine years after it broke up. It contains all the band's hit singles from its studio albums, and was released under three formats : the classic edition with a sole CD, a limited edition double CD whose second disc contains the extended versions, and a long box composed of two CD, a DVD containing the group's music videos (except for "Tchiki Boum") and a booklet with song lyrics and an overview of the band's history. This compilation topped the French Compilations Chart for three weeks and remained charted for 17 weeks (top 100). The DVD was also available as a stand-alone release. Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche () is a wealthy commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. History Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche was built around 4 core hamlets near the Forest of Marly. The village takes its name from a 9th-century co-bishop, saint Nonne, who re-evangelized the country after the Norman invasions, and from La Bretesche, a wooden stronghold (from ''breit eiche'': big oak tree) consisting of a hamlet at the edge of the forest of Cruye, now the forest of Marly. ''La Vérité'' was the last album by Niagara. Niagara was one of the few French bands who had success and critical acclaim outside France despite not singing in English, because of this they embarked on an international tour in 1991 which included many sold out concerts. Based on this success, Polydor decided to spare no expense on ''La Vérité'' which was recorded with a big band consisting of 45 musicians and had a special jewel case with a relief of the logo of the band on the cover. The album was dark with an apocalyptic sound, sometimes bordering on hard rock with ballads intermixed and deals with subjects like the state of the planet, the weird role of the media, the problems of being accepted and being a woman.
