First Presbyterian Church (Spencer, New York)
First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterianism, Presbyterian church (building), church located at Spencer (village), New York, Spencer in Tioga County, New York. It is a Gothic Revival architecture, Gothic Revival style, generally rectangular shaped structure built in 1915. It is constructed of brick with stone trim on a concrete foundation and features a square bell tower at the southwest corner of the building. The interior layout is based upon the Akron plan. It also features 14 stained glass windows designed by Henry Keck of Syracuse, New York. ''See also:'' It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Spencer (village), New York
Spencer is a village located in the Town of Spencer in Tioga County, New York, United States. The population was 759 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Binghamton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town and village are named after Judge Ambrose Spencer. The Village of Spencer is located in the center of the town and is south of Ithaca. History The village is the location for the first settlement of the town, around 1794. It was called "Drake Settlement," at first, but the name was changed to "Spencer" when the town was organized and the village assumed the neighboring community of "Milltown." The village was popularly called "Pumpkin Hook" in the past. Spencer was the county seat of Tioga County from 1812 to 1821.
