First Borisov Government
The eighty-seventh Cabinet of Bulgaria (in office from July 27, 2009 to March 13, 2013) was a minority government chaired by Boyko Borisov. The government was formed after Borisov's party, GERB, won the 2009 parliamentary election. It remained in power relying on support from the opposition parties for almost four years before resigning following nationwide protests. Boyko Borisov
Boyko Metodiev Borisov ( bg, Бойко Методиев Борисов, ; born 13 June 1959) is a Bulgarian politician who served as the prime minister of Bulgaria from 2009 to 2013, 2014 to 2017, and 2017 to 2021, making him Bulgaria's second-longest serving prime minister to date. Borisov was elected Mayor of Sofia in 2005. In December 2005, he was the founding chairman of the conservative political party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB), becoming its lead candidate in the 2009 general election. Borisov led GERB to a landslide victory in 2009, defeating the incumbent Socialist Party, and resigned as mayor of Sofia to be sworn in as Prime Minister. The Ministry of Education and Science ( bg, Министерство на образованието и науката, ''Ministerstvo na obrazovanieto i naukata'') of Bulgaria is the ministry charged with regulating and promoting the educational and scientific work in the country. It was founded as the Ministry of Popular Enlightenment in 1879 and existed under this name until 1947, after which it changed its name numerous times. Miroslav Hristoforov Naydenov, also sometimes spelled as Naidenov ( bg, Мирослав Христофоров Найденов ) was a Bulgarian politician of the GERB party and former Minister of Agriculture and Forestry (2009–2013) in the eighty-seventh government of Bulgaria of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. After leaving GERB, Naydenov's name was mentioned a couple of times in the news in the context of smaller political projects. Biography Naydenov was born on 14 December 1968 in Vratsa, Bulgaria. He graduated in veterinary medicine from the Higher Institute of Zootechnics and Veterinary Medicine, now Trakia University in Stara Zagora. Citizens For European Development Of Bulgaria
GERB ( bg, ГЕРБ, translation=coat of arms, acronym for Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) is a conservative, populist political party which was the ruling party of Bulgaria between 2009 and 2021. History GERB is headed by former Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, the former mayor of Sofia, former member of the National Movement Simeon II and former personal guard of Todor Zhivkov in the 1990s. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. Traycho Dimitrov Traykov ( bg, Трайчо Димитров Трайков) is a Bulgarian politician. He was a Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Energy from 2009 to 2012. In February 2012 he launched an examination of dams in the south of the country after malfunction complaints. In March 2012 it was reported that he had been dismissed from his position allegedly for delaying work on energy projects; Bulgarian-language daily ''Bulgaria Dnes'' alleges that it was due to Belene Nuclear Power Plant specifically, a project which was terminated that month. Traykov himself "attributed the dismissal to his firm position in negotiations with Russia and his demands that Russia should cut the construction cost of the Belene plant, reduce gas prices by as much as 15 percent in a new supply contract and increase returns from the South Stream pipeline above 8 percent." Nickolay Mladenov
Nikolay Evtimov Mladenov ( bg, Николай Евтимов Младенов; born 5 May 1972) is a Bulgarian politician and diplomat who served as Bulgaria's Minister of Defense from 27 July 2009 to 27 January 2010 and as the minister of foreign affairs in the government of then prime minister Boyko Borisov from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, he was a Member of the European Parliament from 2007 to 2009. On 2 August 2013 Mladenov was appointed as United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq. From 5 February 2015 until 31 December 2020, Mladenov served as UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process.
