Firestarter (novel)
''Firestarter'' is a science fiction- horror thriller novel by Stephen King, first published in September 1980. In July and August 1980, two excerpts from the novel were published in '' Omni''. In 1981, ''Firestarter'' was nominated as Best Novel for the British Fantasy Award, Locus Poll Award, and Balrog Award. In 1984, it was adapted into a film. A miniseries follow-up to the film, '' Firestarter: Rekindled'', was released in 2002 on the Sci-Fi Channel and a remake from Blumhouse Productions was released on May 13, 2022. A coma is a deep state of prolonged unconsciousness in which a person cannot be awakened, fails to respond normally to painful stimuli, light, or sound, lacks a normal wake-sleep cycle and does not initiate voluntary actions. A narrative work beginning ''in medias res'' (, "into the middle of things") opens in the midst of the plot (cf. ''ab ovo'', ''ab initio'').
