Fiori Musicali
''Fiori musicali'' ("''Musical Flowers''") is a collection of liturgical organ music by Girolamo Frescobaldi, first published in 1635. It contains three organ masses and two secular capriccios. Generally acknowledged as one of Frescobaldi's greatest works, ''Fiori musicali'' influenced composers during at least two centuries. Johann Sebastian Bach was among its admirers, and parts of it were included in the celebrated ''Gradus ad parnassum'', a highly influential 1725 treatise by Johann Joseph Fux which was in use even in the 19th century. History ''Fiori musicali'' was first published in Venice in 1635, when Frescobaldi was working as organist of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, under the patronage of Pope Urban VIII and his nephew Cardinal Francesco Barberini. It may have been conceived as music for St Mark's Basilica or a similarly important church. Antonio Brunelli
Antonio Brunelli (20 December 1577 in Pisa – 19 November 1630 in Pisa) was an Italian composer and theorist of the early Baroque music, Baroque period. He was a student of Giovanni Maria Nanino and served as the organist at San Miniato in Tuscany from 1604 to 1607, then moved to Prato where he served as ''maestro di capella'' at the Cathedral there. On 12 April 1612 he was appointed as ''maestro di capella'' to the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Between 1605 and 1621 he published works including motets, canzonette, Psalms, madrigal (music), madrigals, Requiems, and other sacred works, some of which were included in Johannes Donfried, Donfried's ''Promptuarium musicum'' (1623). The calendar of saints is the traditional Christian method of organizing a liturgical year by associating each day with one or more saints and referring to the day as the feast day or feast of said saint. The word "feast" in this context does not mean "a large meal, typically a celebratory one", but instead "an annual religious celebration, a day dedicated to a particular saint". The system arose from the early Christian custom of commemorating each martyr annually on the date of their death, or birth into heaven, a date therefore referred to in Latin as the martyr's ''dies natalis'' ('day of birth'). Mass is the main Eucharistic liturgical service in many forms of Western Christianity. Giovanni Battista Fasolo
Giovanni Battista Fasolo, O.F.M.Conv ( Asti, ca. 1598 Palermo after 1664), was a Franciscan friar, organist and composer. In his middle years Fasolo was primarily known for his 1645 organ annual, which, like ''L'organo suonarino'' of Adriano Banchieri, from the generation before him, was intended for use in small parish churches, and are much simpler than those used in Venice. In 1659 Fasolo became ''maestro di cappella'' to the Archbishop of Monreale. Until recently many of G.B. Jean (''Jehan'') Titelouze (c. 1562/63 – 24 October 1633) was a French Catholic priest, composer, poet and organist of the early Baroque period. He was a canon and organist at Rouen Cathedral. Adriano Banchieri
Adriano Banchieri (Bologna, 3 September 1568 – Bologna, 1634) was an Italian composer, music theorist, organist and poet of the late Renaissance and early Baroque eras. He founded the Accademia dei Floridi in Bologna. Biography He was born and died in Bologna (then in the Papal States). In 1587 he became a monk of the Benedictine order, taking his vows in 1590, and changing his name to Adriano (from Tommaso).
