Finnish International
The Finnish Open (until 2013 known as ''Finnish International''), is an international open badminton tournament held in Finland since 1990. It was halted in 1994, 1995, and between 1997 and 2001. In 2013, it was held for the fourth time in the Energia Areena in Vantaa. In 2014, the second international tournament in Finland launched as Finnish International, then this tournament changed its title to Finnish Open. From 2023 onwards, this will be a BWF World Tour The BWF World Tour is a Grade 2 badminton tournament series, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). Vantaa
Vantaa (; sv, Vanda, ) is a city and Municipalities of Finland, municipality in Finland. Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto
Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto (born 28 February 2000) is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club. Early life and career His father Tri Kusharjanto, is an Olympic silver medalist in badminton in 2000, and his mother Sri Untari, was an Asian Champion in 1992. He started practicing badminton with his father at the age of 5, and joined the Djarum club in 2013. Thomas Lund
Thomas Haubro Lund (born 2 August 1968) is a retired badminton player from Denmark who affiliate with Kastrup Magleby club. Career Lund was one of the world's leading doubles specialists of the 1990s, particularly in mixed doubles. He was a silver medalist in both men's and mixed doubles at the 1991 IBF World Championships. In 1993 and 1995 he won consecutive gold medals in mixed doubles at the IBF World Championships, the first with Sweden's Catrine Bengtsson and the second with his compatriot Marlene Thomsen. From 1990 through 1994 Lund won five consecutive mixed doubles titles with three different partners at the now defunct World Badminton Grand Prix. Maria Bengtsson (badminton)
Maria Bengtsson (born 5 March 1964) is a badminton player from Sweden who played in three editions of Olympic games in 1988, 1992 and 1996. Career She won two silver medals at the World Badminton Championships, one in 1985 in mixed doubles with Stefan Karlsson and another in 1991 in women's doubles with Christine Magnusson. She won a bronze medal at the 1989 IBF World Championships in women's doubles, also with Magnusson. Christine Kajumba Magnusson (born 21 November 1964 in Toro Kingdom, Uganda) is a retired Swedish badminton player who won events in numerous Swedish National, open European and other international tournaments. Career Magnusson's Swedish national titles included seven in women's singles between 1982 and 1990. She won the bronze medal at the 1989 IBF World Championships and a silver medal at the 1991 IBF World Championships in women's doubles with Maria Bengtsson. Bagus Setiadi (born 24 June 1966) is a retired male badminton player from Indonesia. Imay Hendra (born 30 January 1970) is a former Indonesian badminton player, and later represented Brunei after became Brunei national coach. He won a men's doubles bronze medal at the 1991 IBF World Championships in Copenhagen with Bagus Setiadi. Morten Frost
Morten Frost or Morten Frost Hansen (born 4 April 1958) is a former badminton player and later coach, who represented Denmark. As a player, he spent twelve years in the top three of the world rankings. Badminton career During his career, Frost won almost every available top level championship, except the World Badminton Championships where he scored a silver medal twice (1985 and 1987). When he lost his second World Championship in the finals, the headlines rang out "The World's greatest badminton player may never be World Champion." BWF World Tour
The BWF World Tour is a Grade 2 badminton tournament series, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It is a competition open to the top world ranked players in singles (men's and women's) and doubles (men's, women's and mixed). The competition was announced on 19 March 2017 and came into effect starting from 2018, replacing the BWF Super Series, which was held from 2007 to 2017. The BWF World Tour are divided into six levels, namely World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, and Super 300 in order (part of the HSBC World Tour). One other category of tournament, the BWF Tour Super 100 level, also offers ranking points. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net.
