Finanztest
''Finanztest'' (originally ''FINANZtest'') is a consumer magazine which focuses on providing objective information about financial services. Together with ''test'' it is one of the two main publications of Stiftung Warentest, the German foundation and consumer organisation. General background ''Finanztest'' was first published in 1991. It has appeared monthly since 1997, and at the present time has a circulation of 251,000 copies per month. However, according to a survey by Allensbach, a well-known institute for public opinion research, each issue is actually read by 1.3 million readers. Approximately 205,000 copies are sold to subscribers and 46,000 at newsstands every month. The magazine is free of adverts in order to ensure that it is totally independent of manufacturer influence. Hermann-Josef Tenhagen has been the editor-in-chief since 1999. Stiftung Warentest is a German consumer organisation and foundation involved in investigating and comparing goods and services in an unbiased way. It was founded on 4 December 1964 by the Federal Republic of Germany as an independent foundation under civil law. It is based in Berlin. Beyond its subscriber base and media coverage, content from Stiftung Warentest can be disseminated through word of mouth. Aims and importance Stiftung Warentest has an important role in two main areas. On the one hand it has the task of comparing objective aspects such as usefulness, functionality and environmental impact, and on the other hand it has the mission of educating consumers so they can learn how to make best use of the income available to them and behave in a health promoting and environmentally aware way. Hermann-Josef Tenhagen (born 22 January 1963) is the editor-in-chief and CEO of '' Finanztip'' since 2014, Finanztip is a non-for-profit financial information website for consumers, used c. 5 million times a month, running a weekly newsletter with a circulation of more than 1.000.000 and a popular YouTube channel. Finanztip is owned by the non-for-profit Finanztip foundation. Early life Tenhagen was born in Wesel, Germany. After finishing school in 1982, he spent a year doing voluntary community service. He gained his first journalistic experience as a freelancer for the Rheinische Post. Hubertus Primus
Hubertus Primus (born 1 September 1955) is a lawyer, journalist and manager. He was the editor-in-chief of the magazine test and is executive director and a member of the management board of Stiftung Warentest, the German consumer organisation. Primus was born in Gersfeld (Rhön), West Germany, the son of a former mayor of Gersfeld. After his law studies at the Free University of Berlin, where he qualified as a lawyer in 1986, Hubertus Primus worked for ''Rechtsmagazin für die Wirtschaft'' till 1988, followed by two years as a freelance journalist specialising in legal issues and taxes for the ''Industriemagazin'' and Süddeutsche Zeitung. He then worked for Stiftung Warentest's magazine Finanztest where he was promoted to its editor-in-chief in 1993. Ilse Aigner (born 7 December 1964) is a German politician and member of the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU). Aigner was born in Feldkirchen-Westerham, Bavaria, and entered Angela Merkel's grand coalition cabinet as Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection on 31 October 2008. She succeeded Horst Seehofer, who had become Minister President of Bavaria. She left her position on 30 September 2013 after being elected as a member of the Bavarian parliament. Walter Riester
Walter Riester (born 27 September 1943 in Kaufbeuren) is a German politician of the SPD and former Minister of Labour and Social Affairs. Political career Riester joined the SPD in 1966. From 1993 to 1998 he was deputy chairman of the IG Metall. From 1998 until 2005, Riester was a member of the SPD's federal executive board, under the leadership of successive chairmen Gerhard Schröder and Franz Müntefering. From 1998 to 2002 Riester was Minister of Labour and Social Affairs in the cabinet of Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (german: Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft, ), abbreviated BMEL, is a cabinet-level ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its primary headquarters are located in Bonn with a secondary office in Berlin.
