Financial Calculator
A financial calculator or business calculator is an electronic calculator that performs financial functions commonly needed in business and commerce communities (simple interest, compound interest, cash flow, amortization, conversion, cost/sell/margin, etc.). It has standalone keys for many financial calculations and functions, making such calculations more direct than on standard calculators. It may be user programmable, allowing the user to add functions that the manufacturer has not provided by default. Electronic Calculator
An electronic calculator is typically a portable electronic device used to perform calculations, ranging from basic arithmetic to complex mathematics. The first solid-state electronic calculator was created in the early 1960s. Pocket-sized devices became available in the 1970s, especially after the Intel 4004, the first microprocessor, was developed by Intel for the Japanese calculator company Busicom. HP-12C
The HP-12C is a financial calculator made by Hewlett-Packard (HP) and its successor HP Inc. as part of the HP Voyager series. Functionality The HP-12C is HP's longest and best-selling product, in continual production since its introduction in 1981. Due to its simple operation for key financial calculations, the calculator long ago became the ''de facto'' standard among financial professionals. Its popularity has endured despite a relatively simple but iterative process such as amortizing the interest over the life of a loan, a calculation that modern spreadsheets can complete almost instantly, can take over a minute with the HP-12C. HP-10B
The HP-10B (F1636A) is a student business calculator introduced in 1987. The model of this calculator proved to compete well with the higher end RPN HP-12C. Two versions of the 10B were produced, the first version came with orange lettering around the keys and used an 1LU7 HP Saturn processor, the later model (in 2000) with teal-green labels. The functionality of the two versions appears to be identical. The successor HP 10bII (F1902A), which was introduced in 2001, is essentially a cosmetic upgrade offering the same overall functionality, but actually reduces the available numbered-storage registers from 15 to 10. Early production runs were of poor quality; newer calculators have apparently solved this shortcoming. In 2011, the 10bII was replaced by the HP 10bII+ (NW239AA) model 1 (codenamed "Bluestar") with expanded capabilities. This model also allows chain input. TI BA II
The Texas Instruments Business Analyst series is a product line of financial calculators introduced in 1976. BA calculators provide time value of money functions and are widely used in accounting and other financial applications. Though originally designed specifically for financial use, current models also include basic scientific calculator and statistics functions. The BA series competes directly with other mid- to high-end financial calculators, particularly the HP-12C and other models from TI competitor Hewlett-Packard. There are two models in the product line: the BA II Plus (originally introduced in 1991) and the BA II Plus Professional (introduced in 2004).
