Field Hockey At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Team Squads
Twelve national teams were competing in the men's Olympic field hockey tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Sixteen players were officially enrolled in each squad. Two reserve players could also be nominated to be available should a player enrolled in the official squad become injured during the tournament. Field Hockey At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's field hockey tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics was the 23rd edition of the field hockey event for men at the Summer Olympics. It took place over a thirteen-day period beginning on 6 August, and culminated with the medal finals on 18 August. All games were played at the Olympic Hockey Centre in Deodoro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Argentina won the gold medal for the first time after defeating Belgium 4–2 in the final. Defending champions Germany won the bronze medal by defeating the Netherlands 4–3 on a penalty shoot-out after a 1–1 draw. The medals for the tournament were presented by Rene Fasel, Switzerland; Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant, Belgium; and Gerardo Werthein, Argentina; members of the International Olympic Committee, and the gifts were presented by Coco Budeisky and Marc Coudron, executive board members of the International Hockey Federation and Leandro Negre, president of the International Hockey Federation. Matthew Gohdes
Matthew Gohdes (born 18 May 1990) is an Australian field hockey player. He plays for the Queensland Blades in the Australian Hockey League. He made his debut for the Australia men's national field hockey team in 2009 during a five-game test series in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He won a gold medal at the 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy and a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Personal Gohdes is from Rockhampton, Queensland. His cousin is former national team teammate Jamie Dwyer. Gohdes never played a game with his cousin until he was named to the national team. His flatmate was teammate Matthew Swann. Gohdes is married to fellow former Australian representative, Jill Gohdes. The couple married in December 2015 and have one child. John-John Dohmen
John-John Dominique Dohmen (born 24 January 1988) is a Belgian professional field hockey player who plays for Orée and the Belgium national team as a midfielder. Biography John-John Dohmen was born in Anderlecht in 1988, and spent his youth in Ittre. He has graduated in ergotherapy. In 2014, he was a candidate for the Centre démocrate humaniste in the Belgian regional elections in Walloon Brabant. Dohmen started playing hockey when he was five years old, and debuted at Royal Léopold Club in Uccle. He was a player for the Waterloo Ducks until 2020, and since 2013, the captain of the Belgian national team (the "Red Lions"). He has won five national titles, one with Léopold and four with Waterloo. He was named Belgian hockey player of the year for the season 2008–2009. Arthur Van Doren
Arthur Georges Stanislas Henri Van Doren (born 1 October 1994) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a defender for Dutch Hoofdklasse club Bloemendaal and the Belgium national team. He is the brother of fellow Belgian international Loic Van Doren. In 2017, he won simultaneously both FIH awards of FIH Player and FIH Rising Star of the Year. At the 2018 Hockey Stars Awards he was named the FIH Player of the Year for the second time in a row. Club career He played club hockey in Belgium for KHC Dragons. Shane McLeod (field Hockey)
Shane McLeod (born 4 September 1968) is a New Zealand field hockey coach. At the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics he coached the New Zealand national field hockey team. He has also coached several clubs in Belgium. At the 2016 Summer Olympics he was the head coach of the Belgium men's national field hockey team The Belgian national men's field hockey team represents Belgium in international men's field hockey and is controlled by the Royal Belgian Hockey Association, the governing body for field hockey in Belgium. Thomas William Craig (born 3 September 1995) is an Australian field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for the Australian national team. Career Junior national team In 2016, Craig was a member of the Australian Under 21 team, 'The Burras', who were victorious at the Junior Oceania Cup, which served as a qualifier for the Junior World Cup. Craig was also a member of the team at the Junior World Cup in Lucknow, India, where the team finished fourth. Jeremy Thomas Hayward (born 3 March 1993) is an Australian field hockey player. Hayward was part of the Australian team who won the 2014 Men's Hockey World Cup. The team defeated the Netherlands 6–1 in the final. Hayward was also awarded Young Player of the Tournament at this event. Fergus Kavanagh (born 21 May 1985) is an Australian field hockey player. He plays Western Australia in the Australian Hockey League. He is a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team, winning a bronze medal with the team at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics. Andrew Lewis Charter (born 30 March 1987) is an Australian field hockey player. He played club hockey for Central Hockey Club, winning a championship with the team in 2004 and 2008. He played for the Australian Capital Territory team in the Australian Hockey League. He is a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team.
