Carmarthen East And Dinefwr (UK Parliament Constituency)
Carmarthen East and Dinefwr ( cy, Dwyrain Caerfyrddin a Dinefwr) is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom represented since 2010 by Jonathan Edwards of Plaid Cymru. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. It was created in 1997, mostly from the former seat of Carmarthen. The Carmarthen East and Dinefwr Senedd constituency was created with the same boundaries in 1999 (as an Assembly constituency). Boundaries The constituency is within the Carmarthenshire authority area, with Llanybydder, Llandovery and Llanfihangel-ar-Arth in the north, Llanfihangel-uwch-Gwili, Llanegwad, and Llandeilo in the central area, and Ammanford and Glanamman in the south. Llanycrwys
Llanycrwys is a community located in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Situated in the historical Cayo Hundred in the Union of Lampeter, it is situated near the River Cothi, and is separated from the parish of Caio by the Afon Twrch, which flows near the St. Davids church. The church is isolated, and was restored in 1892 by C. H. Purday of ''Ewan Christian'', who had a porch on the western side, with a timbered gable. In 1934, local schoolmaster Daniel Jenkins published ''Cerddi Ysgol Llanycrwys'', a collection of Welsh language poetry written by well-known Welsh poets for the celebration of St. David's Day at Llanycrwys between 1901 and 1920. Carmarthenshire ( cy, Sir Gaerfyrddin; or informally ') is a county in the south-west of Wales. The three largest towns are Llanelli, Carmarthen and Ammanford. Carmarthen is the county town and administrative centre. The county is known as the "Garden of Wales" and is also home to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Carmarthenshire has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The county town was founded by the Romans, and the region was part of the Kingdom of Deheubarth in the High Middle Ages. Dyfed () is a preserved county in southwestern Wales. It is a mostly rural area with a coastline on the Irish Sea and the Bristol Channel. Carmarthen East and Dinefwr () is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of eight constituencies in the Mid and West Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to eight constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. It had been held since its formation in 1999 by the Plaid Cymru politician, Rhodri Glyn Thomas until his retirement in 2016. It is now held by Plaid Cymru politician Adam Price, who became leader of the party in 2018. Timothy Richard (Chinese: 李提摩太 ''Li Timotai'', 10 October 1845 – 17 April 1919) was a Welsh Baptist missionary to China, who influenced the modernisation of China and the rise of the Chinese Republic. Biography Richard was born on 10 October 1845 in Ffaldybrenin, Carmarthenshire in south Wales, the son of Timothy and Eleanor Richard, a devout Baptist farming family. Inspired by the Second Evangelical Awakening to become a missionary, Richard left teaching to enter Haverfordwest Theological College in 1865. There he dedicated himself to China, where he had an active role in relief operations during the Northern Chinese Famine of 1876–1879.Paul R.
