Festival Of Moirang Shai
The Festival of Moirang Shai ( mni, Moirang Shai Kumhei), also known as the Seminar on Moirang Shai, is an academic and cultural annual event. The event aims to impart knowledge of the unique culture of the Meitei people at grassroots level, particularly in preserving and promoting " Moirang Shai", due to the fact that Moirang is often regarded as the origin of Meitei culture and the ''Khamba Thoibi Dance''. It emphasizes that especially younger generation should get aware of their own culture. During early years of the event, it had been organised as a part of the cultural policy of the Government of India according to which cultural organisations are recommended for interaction with students and kids at different schools around the country at least once a year. Pena (musical Instrument)
Pena is a string instrument, mono string instrument falling in the lute category, slightly similar to some of the traditional Indian stringed musical instruments such as the ravanahatha, ''ubo'' or the ''kenda''. It is the traditional musical instrument of Manipur, used mainly in the Lai Haraoba festival of Sanamahism. Pena playing is becoming a dying art as only 145 active Pena players are reported in Manipur. Makhonmani Mongsaba (born 1 March 1959) is an Indian author, actor, producer and director from Imphal, Manipur. He got his doctorate degree in Manipuri from Manipur University. In 2013, he won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for his book ''Chinglon Amadagi Amada'', a travelogue. INA Martyr's Memorial
The INA Martyrs' Memorial complex is a war memorial at Moirang, India, dedicated to the soldiers of the Indian National Army. The main feature of the complex is a reconstruction of the INA's memorial to its fallen soldiers as it stood in Singapore, before its demolition at the hands of British Indian Army sappers in 1945. The complex also contains a museum dedicated to the INA along with a library and an auditorium and a statue of Subhas Chandra Bose. Work on the cenotaph itself began in October 1968 and was completed in September 1969, when it was unveiled by Indira Gandhi. Work on expanding the monument complex to present-day size was completed in 2005, when it was unveiled. The total cost in building the memorial was Rs 6.23 crores. A stone monument has also been erected at the historic Moirang Kangla, where Colonel S. A. Malik leading an INA unit raised the flag of Azad Hind in April 1944.
