Ada Ferrar (1 June 1864 – 8 January 1951) was a British actress of the late Victorian era, Victorian and Edwardian eras. Early life Born in St Pancras, London, St Pancras in London in 1864 as Ada Janet Bishop to Mary S. Bishop (1836-) and Charles R. Bishop (1814-), the Managing Clerk to a firm of solicitors, she was one of three actress sisters which included Beatrice Ferrar (1875-1958) and Jessie Ferrar (a.k.a. Marion Bishop (1879-1950). At first her desire to go on the stage met with some parental resistance, but eventually following her success her younger sisters were to follow her in her chosen career. John Ferrar Holms (1897–1934) was a British literary critic. Early life He was born in India to a British civil servant and an Irish mother. Holms was educated at Rugby School and Sandhurst. He was commissioned in 1915 as a second lieutenant in the Highland Light Infantry, and awarded the Military Cross in 1917. In March 1918 he was captured and was held as a prisoner of war at Mainz Citadel with, among others, Hugh Kingsmill, J. The Karoo and Ferrar Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) are two large igneous provinces in Southern Africa and Antarctica respectively, collectively known as the Karoo-Ferrar, Gondwana,E.g. or Southeast African LIP, associated with the initial break-up of the Gondwana supercontinent at . The glacier makes a right (east) turn northeast of Knobhead, where it also feeds the upper end of the Taylor Glacier, which flows on the other (northern) side of the Kukri Hills from the Ferrar Glacier, which continues east along the south side of the Kukri Hills to New Harbour. ''The Holy Bible in Modern English'', commonly known as the Ferrar Fenton Bible, was an early translation of the Bible into English as spoken and written in the 19th and 20th centuries. Origins Believing the Christian faith would be lost unless a modern English version of the Bible were produced, London businessman Ferrar Fenton (1832–1920) began working on a translation of the Bible in 1853. He published his translation of Paul's epistles in 1883 and other parts of the Bible in years following. The complete Bible was first published in 1903, with revisions published in subsequent years until 1910.
