Fernanda Contri
Fernanda Contri (born 1935) is an Italian retired jurist and politician. She is one of the Italian women who hold senior positions in the Italian judiciary system. Biography Contri was born in 1935. She joined the Higher Council of the Judiciary in 1986. She was the minister of state in the cabinet led by Prime Minister Giuliano Amato in the period 1992–1993. Then she was named the minister of social affairs to cabinet of Carlo Azeglio Ciampi in 1993 and was in office until March 1994. From October 1993 to February 1994 she developed an immigration reform bill in a commission called the Contri Commission. However, due to the fall of the cabinet in March 1994, the bill, known as Contri Bill, was not approved and materialized although it was the most comprehensive legal framework on immigration in Italy and offered many advantages to the migrants. Giuliano Amato (; born 13 May 1938) is an Italian politician who twice served as Prime Minister of Italy, first from 1992 to 1993 and again from 2000 to 2001. Amato I Cabinet
The Amato I Cabinet was the 49th cabinet of the Italian Republic, and the first cabinet of the XI Legislature. It held office from 28 June 1992 until 28 April 1993, a total of 304 days, or 10 months. The cabinet obtained the confidence of the Senate on 2 July 1992 with 173 votes in favour and 140 against. Ciampi Cabinet
The Ciampi Cabinet, led by the former Governor of the Bank of Italy Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, was the 50th cabinet of the Italian Republic and the second and final cabinet of the XI Legislature. It held office from 29 April 1993 until 11 May 1994, a total of 378 days, or 1 year and 12 days. It was the first government of the Italian Republic led by a non-Parliamentarian and the last government led by Christian Democrats. Former communists joined the government for the first time since 1947, but they left the government after a few days.
