Fermín Galán
Fermín Galán Rodríguez (4 October 1899 – 14 December 1930) was a Spanish soldier known for leading the failed Jaca uprising a few months before the foundation of the Second Spanish Republic. He was of peasant origins, although his father was in the Navy. His father died when he was 10, and soon after he was enrolled in a boarding school for military orphans. This prepared him for military academy, and in 1918 he graduated as a lieutenant. He served in Morocco, where he learned Arabic, gained a reputation as an African expert and was promoted to Captain. While recovering from a serious wound in 1925 Galán conceived the idea of overthrowing the monarchist dictatorship of General Primo de Rivera and establishing a republic. The next year he helped to plan a coup. The plot was detected and he was imprisoned for 3 years until January 1930. Santiago Casares y Quiroga (8 May 1884, in A Coruña, Galicia – 17 February 1950, in Paris) was Prime Minister of Spain from 13 May to 19 July 1936. Biography Leader and founder of the Autonomous Galician Republican Organization (ORGA), a Galician regionalist party, Casares participated in the Pact of San Sebastián in 1930, a platform composed of the principal parties of the republican opposition which aimed to bring down the monarchy of Alfonso XIII. He served as representative of the Galician Republican Federation, a republican group formed by his ORGA along with other Galician republican forces such as the Radical Party, the federalists and the radical-socialists. Ramón Acín
Ramón Acín Aquilué (30 August 1888, Huesca, Aragon, Spain – 6 August 1936) was a Spanish anarcho-syndicalist, teacher, painter, sculptor, writer and avant-garde artist who was murdered by fascists in the first year of the Spanish Civil War. Acín was a friend of film director Luis Buñuel and provided some of the money for '' Las Hurdes: Tierra Sin Pan'' (1932) and so is credited as co-producer of the film. Valeriano Weyler y Nicolau, 1st Duke of Rubí, 1st Marquess of Tenerife (17 September 1838 – 20 October 1930) was a Spanish general and colonial administrator who served as the Governor-General of the Philippines and Cuba, and later as Spanish Minister for War.
