The Hon. John Herbert Bowes-Lyon (1 April 1886 – 7 February 1930) was the second son of the Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and the Nina Bowes-Lyon, Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne, Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and the brother of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the future Queen Elizabeth.Andrew Morton, "Theirs is the kingdom: the wealth of the British royal family", Publisher Summit Books, 1989page 86 He was an uncle to Queen Elizabeth II, although he died when she was a small child, and before Princess Margaret was born. Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th and 1st Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, (14 March 1855 – 7 November 1944), styled as Lord Glamis from 1865 to 1904, was a British peer and landowner who was the father of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, the maternal grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II, and a great-grandfather to King Charles III.
