Felipe Pigna (born 29 May 1959) is an Argentine historian and writer. He is among the best-selling authors from Argentina. Biography Pigna teaches at the Escuela Superior de Comercio Carlos Pellegrini, directing the ''Ver la Historia'' project that produced 13 documentaries covering the 1776–2001 period of the History of Argentina. He is a columnist, appears on radio programs, and contributes to newspapers and magazines such as ''Noticias'', ''Veintitrés'' and ''Todo es Historia''. He is the director of ''Caras y Caretas'' magazine. He has served as a history adviser for TV networks such as HBO, People and Arts, Italy's RAI, and Spain's Antena 3. He was a columnist of ''Historia Confidencial'', an Argentine TV show. Pigna is a CEO and writes for the historically-focused website El Historiador (The Historian). Mario Ernesto O'Donnell Ure (born 28 October 1941), known as "Pacho O'Donnell", is an Argentine writer, politician, historian and physician who specializes in psychoanalysis. Career After the return to democracy in Argentina in 1983, he was named Secretary of Culture of the city of Buenos Aires. He ran unsuccessfully for the 1988 presidential nomination in the Radical Civic Union primaries, but later became a Peronist and was elected to the Argentine Senate for the city of Buenos Aires in 1998. José Ignacio García Hamilton (1 November 194317 June 2009) was an Argentine writer, noted historian, lawyer and politician. He was elected to the Argentine Chamber of Deputies for the Radical Civic Union representing Tucumán Province. ''Los mitos de la historia argentina'' (in English, "The myths of Argentine History") is a series of books written by Felipe Pigna, focused on the History of Argentina. As of 2010 the series have four books, which span from the Spanish arrival to America up to the governments of Juan Domingo Perón. Summary The first book was written in 2004. It starts with the Voyages of Christopher Columbus and the revolution led by Túpac Amaru. From those points it jumps to the British invasions of the Río de la Plata, the May Revolution, the counter-revolution led by Santiago de Liniers, and chapters focused on Juan José Castelli and Manuel Belgrano. It ends with the Declaration of Independence of Argentina and the war of the Supreme Directors against Artigas. The success of the book led to the printing of an expanded edition.
