Federation Of Agricultural And Dairy Workers
The General Dutch Industrial Union of Agriculture ( nl, Algemene Nederlandse Agrarische Bedrijfsbond, ANAB) was a trade union representing workers in the agricultural sector in the Netherlands. The Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV) was founded in 1906, but none of its affiliates represented agricultural workers. As a result, in 1907, the NVV created the New Dutch Agricultural Workers' Union. In 1908, the Union of Dairy Workers affiliated to the NVV, and the following year, the two unions merged, forming the Federation of Agricultural and Dairy Workers, with 1,087 members. It added "Horticultural" to its name in 1912. In 1920, the union organised a conference at which the International Landworkers' Federation was established, and it hosted the federation's headquarters until 1924, and again from 1933. In 1948, the union changed its name to the General Dutch Agricultural Workers' Union, and then in 1952 it became the General Dutch Industrial Union of Agriculture. By 1 ...

Trade Union
A trade union (labor union in American English), often simply referred to as a union, is an organization of workers intent on "maintaining or improving the conditions of their employment", ch. I such as attaining better wages and benefits (such as holiday, health care, and retirement), improving working conditions, improving safety standards, establishing complaint procedures, developing rules governing status of employees (rules governing promotions, just-cause conditions for termination) and protecting the integrity of their trade through the increased bargaining power wielded by solidarity among workers. Trade unions typically fund their head office and legal team functions through regularly imposed fees called ''union dues''. The delegate staff of the trade union representation in the workforce are usually made up of workplace volunteers who are often appointed by members in democratic elections. The trade union, through an elected leadership and bargaining committee, ...

Dutch Confederation Of Trade Unions
The Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions ( nl, Nederlands Verbond van Vakverenigingen, NVV) was a Dutch social-democratic trade union. History The NVV was founded in 1906 as a merger of fifteen smaller unions, as a result of the inability of the previous unions to control the radical elements of the workers movement in the railworkers' strike of 1903. The NVV was led by Henri Polak, who was a prominent member of the socialist Social Democratic Workers' Party. During World War II the NVV was taken over by the German occupiers, its Dutch leader was Henk Woudenberg. Under the German occupation the NVV was transformed into a Nazi union. After the war these influences were purged and the NVV cooperated tightly with the centre left government to create a welfare state based on the principles of corporatism. In the 1970s NVV membership began to decline due to depillarisation. Under the leadership of Wim Kok the NVV attempted to form a federation with the Protestant Christian Nation ...

Piet Hiemstra
Pieter Feddes Hiemstra (4 August 1878 – 9 January 1953) was a Dutch trade union leader and politician. Born in HĂșns to a farming family, Hiemstra hoped to become a schoolteacher, but could not afford the training, and so worked as a cook, then as an apprentice painter, but at the age of 14, he switched to farm work. He worked for Ate de Gavere, a socialist, and this led Hiemstra to also become a socialist. He then spent some time working in Germany, and in the Dutch military, gradually moving into dairy work, and then becoming a cheese maker. Hiemstra was an early member of the Union of Dairy Workers, and in 1904, he became its president, working nearly full-time for the union from 1905. In 1908, the union affiliated to the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV), and the following year, Hiemstra took it into a merger with the New Dutch Agricultural Workers' Union, forming the Federation of Agricultural and Dairy Workers. Agriculture And Forestry Trade Unions
Agriculture or farming is the practice of cultivating plants and livestock. Agriculture was the key development in the rise of sedentary human civilization, whereby farming of domesticated species created food surpluses that enabled people to live in cities. The history of agriculture began thousands of years ago. After gathering wild grains beginning at least 105,000 years ago, nascent farmers began to plant them around 11,500 years ago. Sheep, goats, pigs and cattle were domesticated over 10,000 years ago. Plants were independently cultivated in at least 11 regions of the world. Industrial agriculture based on large-scale monoculture in the twentieth century came to dominate agricultural output, though about 2 billion people still depended on subsistence agriculture. The major agricultural products can be broadly grouped into foods, fibers, fuels, and raw materials (such as rubber). Food classes include cereals (grains), vegetables, fruits, cooking oils, meat, milk, egg ...

Trade Unions Established In 1909
Trade involves the transfer of goods and services from one person or entity to another, often in exchange for money. Economists refer to a system or network that allows trade as a market. An early form of trade, barter, saw the direct exchange of goods and services for other goods and services, i.e. trading things without the use of money. Modern traders generally negotiate through a medium of exchange, such as money. As a result, buying can be separated from selling, or earning. The invention of money (and letter of credit, paper money, and non-physical money) greatly simplified and promoted trade. Trade between two traders is called bilateral trade, while trade involving more than two traders is called multilateral trade. In one modern view, trade exists due to specialization and the division of labour, a predominant form of economic activity in which individuals and groups concentrate on a small aspect of production, but use their output in trades for other products an ...
