Farse (band)
Farse are an English five-piece ska-punk band from Birmingham. History They attended St. Thomas Aquinas school in Birmingham, where the band formed in 1996 as a four-piece, with the lineup of Ollie Patrick (vocals/guitar), Chris Badham (bass), Dan O'Connell (drums) and Tom Rose (guitar). After releasing a string of demos and a few line up changes (Tom Whithouse joining on second Guitar, leaving Ollie as Vocalist and Ade Preston replacing Tom Rose in the same year), they released their debut album, ''Means to an End'', (recorded at Rich Bitch studios, Selly Oak, Birmingham) on 8 October 2001. The record created a buzz throughout the underground punk and ska scene in the UK and attracted the attention of the Moon Ska Europe label. In late 2002 Farse entered UB40's DEP International Studios to record their second album, ''Boxing Clever''. Moon Ska World
Moon Ska World, formerly known as Moon Ska Europe, is a ska record label based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1998 as the European sister label of the defunct American label Moon Ska Records, which was owned by Robert "Bucket" Hingley of The Toasters. Moon Ska World is a licensed affiliate run by Lol Pryor, the former Dojo Records and Link Records head. Due to illnesses in both Pryor and the other principal owner, Sonia "Red" Bailey, as well as deaths in their families, the label was put on hold until 2006, when Pryor changed its name to Moon Ska World and began running the label on his own. Unlike its American counterpart, Moon Ska Europe released bands from genres outside of ska, but in 2006, the label shifted its focus exclusively towards ska and old reggae. Suckapunch Records
Suckapunch Records is an independent record label based in Lincoln, Nebraska, US. The label was operated from around 2002 to 2004 by a group of friends from Lincoln, Omaha, and Grand Island, Nebraska. The label's original roster comprised four Nebraska bands - Settle for Less, The JV All*stars, Same Old Crap, and Fourth Time Around - but grew to work with bands across the United States. What began as an attempt by four bands of mutual friends to work together and pool money evolved into a small non-profit record label with the goal of promoting Midwest bands. Initially, they pooled entrance money collected at a number of label set-up shows, and this was set aside as a record pressing fund usable by any band on the label. Slam Dunk Records or Slam Dunk Music is a British independent record label, promoter and concert organising company, founded in Leeds, England, in 2007. Some notable signees include You Me at Six and Decade. The label evolved from "Slam Dunk", a weekly club night held at the city's Cockpit music venue, centered on emo, punk, ska and metal music. Capdown is an English punk rock band from Milton Keynes. Originally known as Soap, their songs have political themes as alluded to by their name, which is short for Capitalist Downfall. Mixing ska, punk, hardcore, dub, drum and bass, and reggae, Capdown built a reputation around their independent releases and numerous tours. Career In May 2000, the Household Name Records released Capdown's debut album '' Civil Disobedients''. The album featured hardcore, but also mixed in ska and dub. According to Drowned in Sound the album kick started an underground punk scene. The album went on to be listed at 76 in the NME's top one hundred list for the decade.
