Route description The southern terminus of FM 400 is at an interchange with US 87 north of the Tahoka city limits. The route travels to the northeast through rural areas of Lynn County, passing to the west of Tahoka Lake and through Wilson along that city's 10th Street before entering Lubbock County. In Slaton, FM 400 turns to the north and crosses US 84 near the southern city limits before entering that city's downtown, where it is concurrent with Bus. US 84 along 9th Street for . State Highway 114 (SH 114) is a state highway that runs from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex westward across Texas to the New Mexico state line, where it becomes New Mexico State Road 114, which eventually ends at Elida, New Mexico at US 70 / NM 330. Becton is an unincorporated community in northeast Lubbock County, about northeast of Lubbock, Texas. This small rural community lies on the high plains of the Llano Estacado in West Texas. Becton began as a ranching community and was originally named Bledsoe for W. E. Bledsoe of the Three Circle Ranch. Later, while applying for a post office in 1917, it was discovered that another Texas town was already named Bledsoe, so the name was changed to Becton, after Abner M. Petersburg, Texas
Petersburg is a city in Hale County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 1,202. History Petersburg was founded in 1891 as a post office in southeast Hale County. It was named for Zack Peters and his wife, Margaret, who was the first postmistress. In 1902, Ed M. White established a store at the site of the present community, and moved the post office southwest into Hale County. Although the townsite was platted in 1909, its population remained below 100 until the Fort Worth and Denver Railway was built through town in 1928. Wheat and grain sorghum (milo) were the main crops in the area until cotton was first planted in 1905. The town was incorporated with a population of 200 in 1927.
