James Indus Farley
James Indus Farley (February 24, 1871 – June 16, 1948) was an American educator, businessman, and a three-term member of the United States Congress from Indiana from 1933 to 1939. Biography Born on a farm near Hamilton, Indiana, he attended Tri-State College in nearby Angola, and Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. After four years of teaching school, he went to work for the Auburn Automobile Company and rose to become the company's president. Political career In 1928, he entered politics as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. He was elected to Congress in 1932 from the Fourth District, defeating incumbent Republican David Hogg. He was re-elected twice before losing to Republican George W. Gillie in 1938. James Aloysius Farley
James Aloysius Farley (May 30, 1888 – June 9, 1976) was an American politician and Knight of Malta who simultaneously served as chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Postmaster General under President Franklin Roosevelt, whose gubernatorial and presidential campaigns were run by Farley. Farley was commonly referred to as a political kingmaker, as he was responsible for Roosevelt's rise to the presidency. He was the campaign manager for New York State politician Alfred E. Smith's 1922 gubernatorial campaign and Roosevelt's 1928 and 1930 gubernatorial campaigns as well as Roosevelt's presidential campaigns of 1932 and 1936. Hugh T. Farley (born November 26, 1932) is an American attorney, professor and Republican politician from Schenectady County, New York. He served as a member of the New York Senate from 1977 until his 2016 retirement. Early life and family Farley was born in Watertown, New York and raised in Indian Lake, New York. Frances Farley (August 27, 1923 ~ January 16, 2004) was a Democratic member of the Utah State Senate, representing the state's Senate District 1. Early life and education Farley was born August 27, 1923, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of North Dakota, and then went to New York University, and earned a master's degree in marketing. Political career After moving to Utah, Farley was elected a delegate to the 1972 Democratic National Convention. In 1976, Farley was elected to the Utah State Senate as a Democrat. Ephraim Wilder Farley (August 29, 1817 – April 3, 1880) was a U.S. Representative from Maine. Born in Newcastle, Maine, Farley attended the common schools and was graduated from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, in 1836. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Newcastle. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1843 and 1851–1853. Farley was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress (March 4, 1853 – March 3, 1855). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1854 to the Thirty-fourth Congress.
