Fannrem
Fannrem is a village in the municipality of Orkland in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located along the Orkla River about south of the urban area of Orkanger, Thamshavn, and Råbygda, and about north of the village of Vormstad. Due to recent conurbation between Orkanger and Fannrem, Statistics Norway regards Orkanger-Fannrem as one community with a population (2018) of 8,204. Orkanger-Fannrem is one of the largest settlements in Trøndelag county. Fannrem was the administrative centre of the old Orkdal municipality until 1 January 1963, when the municipalities of Orkanger, Orkland, and Geitastrand were merged into a new Orkdal municipality. At that time Orkanger became the municipal center. The main city center of Fannrem is mainly composed of service industries, surrounded by residential areas and farms. Orkdal Church
Orkdal Church ( no, Orkdal kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Orkland municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Fannrem, about south of the town of Orkanger. It is the main church for the Orkdal parish as well as the seat of the Orkdal prosti (deanery) within the Diocese of Nidaros. The gray, stone, neo-gothic church was built in a long church design in 1893 using plans drawn up by the architect Carl Julius Bergstrøm (1828–1898). The church seats about 450 people. Råbygda (or historically: ''Gjølme'') is a village in the municipality of Orkland in Trøndelag county, Norway. Orkanger
Orkanger is a town and the administrative centre of Orkland municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The town is also a former municipality which existed from 1920 until 1963. The town sits at the end of the Orkdal Fjord, an arm of the Trondheimsfjord. Orkanger is the commercial centre of the municipality of Orkland and it is the site of the Orkanger Church. Jorodd Asphjell
Jorodd Asphjell (born 17 July 1960 in Orkdal) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Sør-Trøndelag in 2005. On the local level, he was a member of Orkdal municipal council from 1983 to 1987, later serving as deputy mayor from 1999 to 2003. He chairs the local party chapter since 2003. He worked at a printing press from 1977 to 1994, and was county secretary of his party from 1997 to 2005. He has also been a board member of local sports clubs and organizations. Roar Ljøkelsøy (born 31 May 1976) is a Norwegian former ski jumper who competed from 1993 to 2010, and twice finished runner up in the World Cup. Career He won his first individual World Cup event on 25 January 2003 and was a very consistent competitor in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons, finishing runner-up in both. In 2003–04 he won seven out of the last eleven competitions, finishing ten points short of eventual winner Janne Ahonen. Orkland (former Municipality)
Orkland is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed only for a short time, from 1920 until 1963. The municipality encompassed the central part of what is now the municipality of Orkland in Trøndelag county. The main church of the municipality was Moe Church, just south of the village of Vormstad, the administrative centre of the municipality. Most of the population lived in the Orkdalen valley along the river Orklaelva and near the lake Hostovatnet. The main village areas were Vormstad, Svorkmo, and Hoston. Ski jumping is a winter sport in which competitors aim to achieve the farthest jump after sliding down on their skis from a specially designed curved ramp.
