Fame Asylum
''Fame Asylum'' is a 2006 documentary that followed the progress of a boy band made up of four asylum seekers and aired on Channel 4. The Guardian said it was among the worst ideas in TV history, and the programme was also nominated for a Royal Television Society Award. It is available to watch on 40D, and has some accompanying learning resources. Boy Band
A boy band is loosely defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties at the time of formation. Generally, boy bands perform Love song, love songs marketed towards girls and young women. Many boy bands dance as well as sing, usually giving highly choreographed performances. Asylum Seekers
An asylum seeker is a person who leaves their country of residence, enters another country and applies for asylum (i.e., international protection) in that other country. An asylum seeker is an immigrant who has been forcibly displaced and might have fled their home country because of war or other factors harming them or their family. If their case is accepted, they become considered a refugee. The terms ''asylum seeker'', ''refugee'' and ''illegal immigrant'' are often confused. A person becomes an asylum seeker by making a formal application for the right to remain in another country and keeps that status until the application has been concluded. The Guardian

Richard DeDomenici is a British artist whose "playful" work demonstrates a commitment to a stance against standardisation. He gained notoriety in 2012, when he ran alongside the Olympic Torch before having it confiscated, as well as for his many "Redux" projects, which recreate famous films. DeDomenici's performance piece, "Live From Television Centre", broadcast live on BBC4, was the last broadcast made from the BBC Television Centre, London before it was decommissioned in 2013. Refugee Week takes place on the 20th of June each year. It is regularly used as a platform for holding hundreds of arts, cultural and educational events.
